I have dyspraxia, ADHD, aspergers traits (borderline asperger syndrome).

What are the advantages of aspergers ?

I believe the advantages are being detailed, logical, knowledgeable, and for me being mathematical ? :D 8)

My abilities to focus intently on a problem, see the underlying pattern, and determine the one best solution have always served me well ... except when someone else (usually a more popular person or the boss's son) would declare their 'solution', which would end up costing more and taking a longer time.  Then I would get blamed.

But those were my younger days.  Nowadays, I usually implement the solution before the others have even convened a meeting to only discuss the problem.

I have it, and it makes me a math genius. Savant level, really.

I breezed through the first two years of college math in a few months.

Then I surpassed the entire university level (regionally accredited) in roughly a year and a half.

By the time I was a senior, I had taught myself grad school topics and was
researching the limitations of statistics and probability theory.

Math is something that autistics made, and it is amazing what this condition can do for you if you apply yourself.

You will never know if you have the talent unless you give it a try. Good luck.

My propensity to look for patterns and make links between things has helped me in my professional life especially in relation to specialised complex assessments and risk management.

That depends on the individual.

its instantaneous almost .. has helped me stay out of trouble occasionally . personal safety type

How often do you get to have an "I told you so" moment that doesn't backfire on you?

No advantages for me or at least ones I recognise

in my field, the tendency to want to collect a lot of data and analyse it to find an optimal solution has been useful - though it has also led to clashes with those who jump to what they think is the best solution and think you're wasting time (or questioning their judgement) doing things any other way.
You just have to be lucky in finding a wise manager who recognises your worth and will value honest achievement over personality.

In my self-identifying case, it allows me to absorb massive amounts of data in short time periods. This was very useful during cume exams in graduate school. Fellow students just could not understand how I could do this, as they considered themselves to be much better than me and this was something that they just could not do. There was one particular cume exam that I was the only person to pass it in a decade. It involved knowing all the information from sixty long scientific journal articles in three days time and put the research together to answer a series of questions. Yes, that made me feel good that I was the only one who could pass that exam.

It also gives me an edge at designing things as I can see where seeming unrelated research fits together to make something new. One of the hardest skills to learn for most graduate students is how to think creatively in research. It just came naturally to me, I can do this without effort. As with everything, with advantages comes cost though. In my case, it is to be forever outcast in social circles, even with other chemists. I just do not belong.

I don’t think I have any advantages anymore. I used to have the stereotypical Aspie memory when I was a kid, but 15 years of depression (of varying levels), ECT, and whatever I have going on with my memory right now took care of that.

Unconventional and highly associative thinking and mostly a better long term memory. Being much less emotional than average people has advantages as well ( except you want to connect to other people of course  ). Some of us keep a childlike innocence and a incredible inner beauty but they have rarely a clue about it.

Aside from the advantages already mentioned, I've found that I have a somewhat decreased and delayed pain response. While that sounds unfortunate, I studied chemistry in college and cook as a hobby, so it's nice that if I burn my arm, it bothers me little enough that I can finish whatever I'm doing and reach a useful stopping point rather than react impulsively.

It gives me a superpower. I can turn invisible around women.

Yes, that was sarcasm.

For me I believe it gives me the ability to be creative and analytical which gives me an edge in a lot of workplaces and college group projects. For example in my computer programming classes, I would take the opportunity to add my own creative visuals to the assignments instead of using the provided assets. I would also add interesting insight on how we can improve the code and the program's usability and take the project to the next level in terms of its visual appeal and programming.
