This is probably a preference thing but I'm sure being on the spectrum may play a role in this. I don't like to wearing socks, I always have issues with seams rubbing on my toes and just for the fact my feet feel chocked and at times itchy. In Warm weather I cannot wear socks at all. I go barefoot at home year round, even here in the Midwestern United states.

I usually wear Sebago boat shoes, leather flip flops or Nike Benassi slides, I've worn running shoes this way as well. I've known people who are actually quite the opposite, a friend I used to have couldn't stand to be without socks. I also have issues with other clothing as well,so it probably has to do with Aspergers.

Clothing tags, textures, socks, seams .... very much an issue for many of us or anyone really with sensory sensitivities. 8) I remember as a child in baking hot Australian Summers, turning my socks inside out when having to wear school shoes, as the seams were very annoying. Socks here in the UK, I have no issues with in the winter as they’re soft and cosy. I prefer being barefoot around the house in the summer months here though.

I am not a sock fan myself. I often go about the house bare footed. I was a little bit on the wild side when I was a youngster and commonly climbed trees. Even at age 71 it is common for me to pick something that I accidentally dropped on the floor with my feet, rather than bending down and using my arms to retrieve it.

Back in the 70s when I was young I found Earth Shoes and I loved them. Recently I found that thick athletic stockings made from bamboo fibers felt really good and because bamboo has antibacterial properties, they were very effective at stopping foot odor.

Ha ha to each his own. I've known both types, the friend I mentioned above would put on socks the second he got out of the shower but I knew another guy, who actually went in a public place barefoot. so go figure.

I have discovered "diabetic" socks - they stay up without leaving marks on my ankles. I like socks in general for the insulation, and am careful to avoid wrinkles on the bottom. However, there was a ,70s fad in California for bicycle racers to not wear socks, and to fool the officials, the riders would paint their ankles white.

I hate socks. The only socks I will wear are ankle ones as the fabric is much thinner and I like cute prints.

Go barefoot and free yourself from the tyranny of socks. I hate wearing anything on my feet.

I compromise, and wear lightweight shoes with flexible soles most of the time.

I can't stand to wear gloves. Even the idea of anything on my hands freaks me out.

Only socks that don't bother my feet are ankle and low cut ones. I'm really specific about my socks. But my (nt) dad is even more specific. My dad got me these socks that i can't even wear because they are super uncomfortable.

FYI there are socks that have no seams.

Also there are some made without elastic. I have some.

It's the seams I have issues with.

I hate socks. I cannot stand the feeling of wearing socks without shoes over them. If I am to wear socks, it is because I will immediately be putting my shoes on over them. And whenever the shoes come off, the socks come off too.

A guy I knew at college was like that. He lived on the same floor as me for three years, so I saw him frequently. He'd walk down the dormitory hall to the shower room wearing white socks, and when he walked back down the hallway after his shower, he was wearing the same white socks. If you ever saw him around, he was ALWAYS wearing white socks. I don't believe anyone ever saw his bare feet.

I was tempted to ask him about that, but I never did, partly because I was kind of afraid to know the answer :?
