I was born in 1993 so I only got to witness 7 years of the 20th century. I know that the 20th century had its fair share of problems like every other time period throughout the history such as two world wars, a global pandemic, the Great Depression, the Holocaust, the Korean War, assassinations, the Vietnam War, and other conflicts throughout the world. Despite all the problems in the world, people seemed a lot more happier and optimistic back then than they do now. In the 21st century depression and suicide have been on the rise, 9/11 happened which changed the world as we knew it, there have been several natural disasters, there was the 2008 financial crisis, and we are currently dealing with a pandemic which has claimed a million lives and caused another recession. In terms of technology, I think the 21st century is better because we have things that make life more convenient. The twentieth century did see great innovations in technology also. In terms of income, I think we are worse off in the 21st century because the cost of living has risen over the years and wages have remained stagnant. In the twentieth century, a man could get a job right out of high school and be able to afford a house and raise a family. Today, millions of people live paycheck to paycheck just to get by. More young adults are living with their parents today than ever before because they can't afford to live on their own. I think media was better in the 20th century than in the 21st century. I can't really comment on the movies because I've seen lots of good movies from both centuries, but I believe the music and tv shows were a lot better in the 20th century than the 21st century. The kid shows, especially in the 80s and 90s were phenomenal. Cartoons today don't hold a candle to the cartoons in the 90s. Everyone today is nostalgic for a certain decade of the twentieth century. I can't see anyone being nostalgic for the current time period that we are in now in the future.
