An Ode to WP

If ever you're lonely, in need of a friend,
Remember Wrongplanet ... go on ... hit Send ...
Our Planet is spacious, and understands well,
That life can be torture and life can be Hell.

Climb on aboard and escape the ratrace,
Leave Earth far behind, take that mask from your face ...
A haven to recharge, no worries, no stress,
Just be yerself, there's no-one to impress.

D&D n fenkis, KK's wolfie roar.
MilkTalk n Istomin, Kitty n Joe,
Angnix n Pepe, he's Aussie y'know!

There's DeepHour n sweetleaf, funeral x,
There's Jimmy n Jakki n AA - he's the best!!

With naturalplastic n roadratt aboard,
Magz n Dear_one, nadroJ, Hero's adored

We’ll fly over the oceans, sail beyond the moon,
SpaceX won’t know what’s hit it, Pieplup launches soon...
As our Wing Commander, Smudge has taught him well,
MartianPrincess, Isabella, even Acton Bell ...

Found his skills impressive, and when he’s at the helm,
Even Sharon B and Cockney, they sense no overwhelm.
AaronHamill smiles at Boo, for he is our hairdresser,
While SuperboyIan says “Come now, absolutely no pressure!”

Lukario is studying our virtual maps,
Plotting our course, while Kraichgauer makes schnapps.
DWaMom says “I need one of those!”,
As Kyle the Ghost whispers “Steady as she goes!”

Eikona n Cyberdad summon Alita,
Usagibrian is happy to meet her.
The Walrus n Techstepp are throwing a glance,
at KK who’s started a charming moondance

exexZeromancer n Cecil surveying the deck,
Cberg, lostdragon, Greatshield have their pets,
Deepthought’s checking gauges and wishing he’d seen,
Freewaydog’s h’ordeuvres, the cheese is supreme!

For BSisko cooks up a storm in the Mess,
Grand Inquisitor starts to address,
The outstanding gymroom, with Vexcalibur ...
XFilesGeek knows that the Truth is out thar ...

Ferraluce, Mrs Peel, n Summertwilight,
They’re handing out cookies, well into the night...
FleaoftheChill greets that1weirdgal,
As Timf declares “The force here is swell!”

Lostonearth’s chilling, unwinding at last,
She’s helping Confusedsloth make sense of the past.
Skiddlebugz, traven, maycontainthunder,
Grac333, Raleigh from downunder.

They all see a future, they’re seeing it still,
As they gaze out the window, they know we can fill ...
The days with a warmth and a care for each one,
Each Wrongplaneteerer, filled with knowledge and fun.

Music will play as the craft gathers speed,

They call upon Zeitgeist to tell us a joke,
Warrier’s laughing, gives GentArg a poke ...
As he’s drifting off, a satisfied slumber,
He knows that this flight was his lucky number.

Wolfram n Bender are doing the splits
While Nuttdan n Alex are watching transfixed.
They never knew just what they were starting,
When WrongPlanet began, that we’d be departing ...

Creating a world where no one is better,
We all make a difference, we chart this together.
GreenOStar, Bradleigh, ironpony,
They knew all along that Acceptance is key.

Shaken not stirred, Retrogamer, n Major
How we couldn’t see it, envision the fuss ...
Of a world minus judgements, ‘tween NT’s n Us.

All we needed was vision n hope, no despair,
Faith that a world we could build would be there...
A future that’s bright, whether gifted or troubled,
Barchan n Drake say their chances have doubled.

Roccoslife, sorrowfairie cartwheel n then ...

Noca loves lego n puters n floss.

Bravo announces that pyrricwren’s coffee,
Tastes like marshmallow, is chewy like toffee ..
Iwannablue quizzes equestriatola,
on sports and on manga n gameshows n cola.

Trogluddite’s reading The Handmaiden’s Tale,
Velorum from Cornwall is nursing a quail.
DemophobeKlingon is playing guitar,
Adventures in Star Trek n Disney Pixar.

Then out of the blue, Darmok appears,
And he’s lookin’ cooler than boondocks n beers
His New England spirit, while Covid does spread,
Keeps Jakki afloat, those memes, jokes in threads.

For Jakki’s no fool, she’s knows when she sees,
A uplifting spirit, in times such as these.
Butterfly88 n HollywoodGuy,
Greenm n isloth … they know this is why …

We need him on board, each one plays a part,
He’s part of the family, we DO have a heart.
Contrary to some who would question eternal,
Our quest to care, we’ll forgive them, and show them.

Not that we need to, not that we care,
We know what’s inside us, and they needn’t stare,
We’ve nothing to prove, this life is so short,
Love2connect smiles at our Cosmonaut.

There’ll be no more worry ‘bout people on steroids.

Now, we’re only human, and you are forgiven …

All kinda nostalgic, for Strawberry Fields …
After all it is written, there in the stars,

Wherever we fly to, wherever we go,

Will be cruising tonight, trip light’s fantastic!

It won’t be too rough and it won’t be demanding.
We’ll set up a world, where peace has a chance,
Where lovers can love, and where dancers can dance.

Where starry nights flicker, and scientists know,
That Pi has its day, and Quantum can flow.

Babbage and Turin n Theory of String.

Is strong within this one, he feels it, of course.

Of Mozart n Strauss, Tchaikovsky and YOU…
Can share all your unheard and beautiful riffs,
FeeliO knows there’s no buts or ifs.

Are gathering opinions on where we should go.
When this craft has landed, a village will grow,
We won’t go too high, but we won’t go too low.

Oculus draws up some cool housing drafts,
Insertcoolname, jrjones have a laugh …
The choice is enormous n quirky, we know
Nothing’s an issue, we’ll work and we’ll grow.

Livingwithautism sees life ahead,
As a wonderful dream, no hardship or dread.
Renaeden is poised for a life by the sea,
With Richard and blech n BTDT.

Seaweed n Ersatz, roccoslife too,
Sarahsmith, Jensen and HacKing n Boo,

She’s dancing with alpacka, n tfw7.

Alterity drifts o’er to rowan_nichol,
This starry night, Vincent would rock n he’d roll …
For he’d notice sunflowers in all of our fields,
He’d know of the promise, that this flight does yield.

If you look to the sky on the darkest of nights,
When everything’s wrong, and nothing feels right.
Know that we’re out there, just send up a flare,
For everyone matters, you’ll be welcome there.

It must have taken ages to write.

Not at all, minutes literally. I have been writing poetry since I was a child and find it easier than speaking. A few of us here have commented on how it just flows out of us. That’s how it is.

I saw those poems, and smiled to myself at the time, feeling fortunate to have met her. Not only is she a sweetheart, but she is a very talented writer. I understand that she was also reading and writing fluently at 3 years of age, as I was. A few of us here seem to be hyperlexic, although I wasn’t aware until a couple of years ago, that it had a name!
