As someone who loves football & other stereotypically NT stuff, it's not enough to just care about stuff NTs care about.

It's a case of don't care about anything.

Affect apathy. Make 'ironic jokes'. Never be seen to care 'too much'.

That's why in my time of life (in my 30s) I cba with it.

Aspies will never be part of the 'cool gang' cos we're honest. We either love something or don't care for it. We have passions. Whether it's football or train spotting, we love our specialist interests.

Never feel like you're not good enough because you're not 'cool'. Or because you're 'cringe'. They cringe at what's human emotion/passion/being human.

Don't be cool. Be alive. Live your life with feeling and ignore the nay-sayers.

I have never rwally been cool... I have ALWAYS done my own thing. Trying to fit into what society expects just does not work. Fashions? I have never been in fashion exceot when old fashions have come back round, and even then I get looked down on because I have not spent a fortune out and apare tly one has to spend lots of money on ones clothes before they are declared "Fashionable"? I have never worked that one out!

Nope. I have ALWAYS done my own thing and every time others have tried to get me to conform, I have been depressed and miserable and stressed as it does not work!

The best way to be "cool" is to stop trying to be cool.

Sunglasses and fedora and/or long beard? Maybe wear a vest or have tattoos? Also can't forget the one-liners and cheesy pickup lines.

Hmm... honestly I've found a very (and prepare to be jealous [prepare yourself]) cool and lovable gang of scifi-themed bicyclists that advocate for riding together once a month to just have fun and be yourself. How did I meet this group? Err... seizing opportunity I guess? Or... letting the opportunity seize me? Something like that. I saw a flyer in an elevator linking me to a bicycle rally and I had a bicycle, so I went there and there were all sorts of tents set up with representatives from local bike associations and that led me to this cool group of awesome people that always strive to be themselves, and the very best version of themselves. In some cases that may mean santa claus knighting people with a lightsaber while everyone enjoys terrible frozen donuts and cheap coffee XD

I'm specifically not cool cos my dark glasses.

It really is like I said in OP.

Give a s**t about stuff and you're not cool.

Also I love that group! Not necessarily the hobby just the being yourself aspect of it!

The older I get, the less I care about cool, I realised it's all a con to stop being yourself or caring about anything. It's sad.
