For pets Sean... Not food... :: shakes head :: Silly Sean...

I think Delta has Aspergers as well... She doesn't like to be touched, keeps to herself mostly, and only gives me attention when she wants foodage... But I still love her

my ex girlfriends cat was evil. That evil feline (and her as well) have forever scarred me against furry animals. the cat used to bite me daily. It scratched my arms, tried to bite me during coital activities, would sit on my head, dangle its tail in my face and tried to neuter me. I slung it across the room by its tail. Evil, evil creature. I am never letting another orange tabbey sit in the same room as me again.

On a more serious note, I'm thinking of getting a cat someday. Would having it declawed have any impact on it's ability to attack a guinea pig?

No. Killing it on the other hand would be sped up if you keep its claws intact. Not for damage but it helps the cat keep a good grip on the thing.

I live with three cats: George, Lacey and Rascle.

I think it's true what they say, pets seem to act like their owners, my cat rascle ven has some autistic traits, and is very intelligent.

He's very fussy with food, he's not a people person, he has to come to you. He will spend a lot of time alone, etc.

I love him though!

I love cats because they are soft and furry and graceful and beautiful (except maybe for big boofy tomcats but they can still be very friendly and affectionate).

It's also a mystery as to how they can purr. I read somewhere that applying a purring cat to sore areas of your body eg. arthritic joints, is very good for you (as long as the cat is agreeable of course)

Sean, I think it is cruel to declaw cats and it means they can't defend themselves against other cats or dogs. I don't think any reputable vet would do such an operation and am pretty sure that in Australia at least, it is illegal to declaw cats. It makes me very angry when I hear of people getting cats declawed as it's just not natural to have a clawless cat.

If you've got guinea pigs, I'd make sure they were kept well away from the cat.

Anyway, cats use their claws to deposit scent on various objects.

Ma-137, unfortunately it is not uncommon for pets to be jealous if their owner gets a boyfriend or girlfriend or if there is a new baby in the house. A few judicious sprays with a water pistol might have discouraged the cat that was annoying you.

I doubt it, but i think the number of people who like kitties versus those who dont like them or dont care is very high. They are very pleasing animals, which humans relate to rather well.
