Seriously, what season is this, monsoon or winter 
From the National Weather Service's 7 day forecast page for here;
"Tonight Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1am, then rain after 1am. Low around 35. Breezy, with a north northeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Thursday Rain before 9am, then rain and snow between 9am and noon, then rain after noon. High near 41. Breezy, with a north wind 17 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. "

Wonderful wonderful Midwest .... that is very weird weather . But. Not boring , maybe a little maddening .
Just a observation on Mr Deckers Report but you have described it better in your post .

This hazardous weather outlook is for northwest...north central and
west central Missouri...as well as extreme eastern Kansas.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to continue this morning. A few
storms could be strong to severe with hail up to quarter sized as
the main threat. The severe threat should diminish after day break,
but thunderstorms and rain will continue through the day. Widespread
amounts of 2-3 possible which could lead to new or additional
flooding issues.

Rain may mix with some snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning,
