Ichiro is an incredible talent. He plays a premium defensive position very well, plus he's one of the top hitters in baseball.

Plus he's just damn funny. His quotes always make me laugh.

More of a Wee Willie Keeler, I think.

Keeler, incidentally, held the record for most singles in one season (206 in 1898) until Ichiro broke that in 2004 (225 singles). Also, Keeler had 8 consecutive 200 hit seasons, also the major-league record. Ichiro has 6 straight to start his career (should make it 7 sometime in early September).

Though, your comparison is quite good. The American League record for most 200 hit seasons (consecutive or not) is 9, held by Ty Cobb (Pete Rose holds the major league record with 10).

My favourite current ballplayer has to be Ichiro, though all-time he gets some competition from Rickey Henderson.

I do not collect cards. I do have a tendency to memorise a lot of stats, though. I don't mean to - it just works out that way. And if I ever don't have a stat handy I can always visit baseball-reference.com or baseballprospectus.com.

Rickey also just missed hitting 300 HR in his career (297), plus he did hold the record for most walks drawn in a career when he stopped playing, but that record has since been broken by Barry Bonds.

Ichiro had a great series in Baltimore. He's so fun to watch.

i know. last i heard of him he was still playing dude loves baseball. cool. he should try to get his 300 homer :D

ichiro almost always does well in baltimore, i totally agree he is super fun to watch, sometimes when he goes through his routine when hes up to bat i get goosebumps and say this "ichiro" like a japenese man. its silly i know and a little embaressing but oh well.

:D

But you can't compare them.
Ichiro gets at least 100 extra
at bats a year.
