I woke about 4 AM from a dream in which this terrorist who was planning on blowing up a parking lot of cars was foiled by some hero guy. Anyway the terrorist ran away and up this ladder to a platform I
was on. I kicked him very hard as he climbed the ladder.

Yes you guessed it my big toe hurts now in real life from the very real kick. Anyway I kick in my dreams often at bad guys and wake up
as a result.

I remember reading a few days ago that the gene for kicking in sleep has been found.

I don't know about kicking, but i do a lot of 'tossing and turning', my bed is usually a right mess when i wake up. I hardly remember my dreams either - probably just as well.

According to my boyfriend, I do kick in my sleep but not hard. I also toss, turn and scratch myself according to him.

I snore and I mean SNORE! Sleeping in a room with me is like sleeping in a lumber-mill.

I toss and turn a lot too. That's pretty much why I bought a queen-size bed when I moved to my own apartment. The full-size bed at my parents' was too small to accommodate my tossing and turning "habits".

I often wake myself by making a guttural sound as I try to speak whatever I'm saying in my dream.

I frequently dream of playing basketball (something I love) and once I actually realize I'm dreaming it, I suddenly can't make any shots anymore in the dream because I'm trying to raise my arms and in reality my body stops me and it translates into my dream. That ticks me off!

I kick, or twitch while sleeping. Sometimes I'm vaguely aware that I'm doing it, most time I'm not. If it's really bad, TM wakes me up, and it's off to the couch ! !
I've found that winding down in the evening is important. I try to keep activity limited, and quietly read before bedtime. Also a bit of whiskey works wonders ....

Lets see.. I usually start out sleeping on my right side.. then I roll over on to my left and push on the bed with my arms, causing me to slide up against the rail of the bed (water bed) then I roll over on to my right side and start the process all over again always turning counterclockwise.. kicking my legs the whole time as well of course.

Sometimes restless leg syndrome will wake me up and I have to get up and walk around to make them stop jerking and hurting before going back to bed.. sometimes takes a half hour or more.

I snored something horrible until I found out the neighbours moved out on account of my snoring. Thin walls, and my dog was sitting on my pillow, howling.

In desperation I bought something on-line and it actually worked! You might be able to find it. I see it from to time.

It's a strap that wraps around your chin and the top of your head and closes with velcro. There are slits on the sides for your ears. What it does, and I'm sorta guessing here, is readjust your jaw alignment. Sort of if you punch yourself in the chin, but not punch just push with your fist, that's the motion. Just sleep with that on and snoring was finished, for me anyway.

It's been around a long time - not only did I find it in e-Bay, I found it in the 1901 Sears Catalogue (reprint).

I think it was those years of smoking that created the problem. Every puff, my jaw would move a little forward.

I got angry and frustrated with someone in my dream once, and I actually kicked my boyfriend! It didn't hurt him. He knew I must have been dreaming.

I used to kick a lot when I were a kid but I probably don't do it anymore. At least my bedsheet doesn't look like I do - the legs part used to be all over the place, now it stays almost as I put it.

As for doing in reality what you do in dream - I did it once. Some bad guys were attacking me in my dream so I fought them and I ended up... hitting my dad which was trying to wake me up. LOL He doesn't get close to my bed when I am sleeping after that incident.
But there was also a situation where I yelled in my dream so badly I realized "I am sleeping and dreaming but the yell was so loud I might do it in reality too, I will better wake up to see I didn't wake up my parents" - and apparently I didn't yell in real life.
So the incident with dad was probably caused by him waking me up forcibly and causing me dream about being attacked, not the other way around. I didn't put the moves from dream to reality by myself - he opened the channel first and I was only half asleep when that happened.

All small children in my family kick my ribs all night; heaven only knows what they're dreaming.

But for real, please listen, especially since nobody believes me but it's true - throw a bar of soap in your bed. Any soap, it doesn't matter. It ends restless leg and various forms of kicking.

It does not end bashing people who are trying to wake you.

I involuntarily kick and throw punches when I'm having nightmares.
