FINALLY!! I feel so happy right now. Idk exactly what to do. I'm just very excited. Me and my mom are both super happy. I feel so validated. My mom does too. It doesn't really feel like anything has changed.
I hope I didn't fake anything. I sometimes worry that this is all faked. But now that I have the diagnosis, I'm safe, right?

So glad this is all over. I'm so glad that they believed me.
I'm super tired. I feel like this will be a new "obsession". I'm not really too shocked, though. The test results were what I expected. My IQ is a little above average, my vocabulary is good, but I can't do things very fast. Basically confirmed what I already knew about myself. Apparently, I can also get a scholarship through my school (which I'm homeschooled, but I can get it through the public school) which we can use to pay for therapy.
I'm also embracing that I have high cognitive empathy (I can see why people feel a certain way) but low emotional empathy(i don't feel their emotions). I thought it made me evil for the longest time, and people told me I was a narcissist, because I knew about people and their situations but didn't really feel bad.

What does it mean to be autistic? I'm still not sure. At least, now I know something about myself. My little treasure that no one can take away.
:D hopefully this isn't bad that I feel this way

Autism means alot of things to alot of different people. Autism to me isn't entirely a positive thing but it isn't entirely a negative hting either. While it does disable me it's also something that gives me some advantages. (although you could easily argue this has more to do with my suffering than autism). It allows me to do things no one else can. Ultimately however. I can't tell you what autism means to you. That's something you have to find out for yourself.

It means you are you.

If you've met one Autistic, you've met one Autistic. We're all different. When I was diagnosed I did something that you cannot do: I bought champagne on the way home. While some people are seriously disabled by Autism, others of us, with milder symptoms, consider it to be not so much a "disability" as it is a "difference".

In part it impaired me, in part it helped me. I hope you figure out how to work with it rather than have to fight it.

But, _cora_, you are too young for champagne. Maybe your Mom could get some ice cream to help you two to celebrate? :)

Aww, c'mon!  A wee bit o'the Bubbly under her mother's watchful eye couldn't hurt!  This is cause for celebration!

Just do not let her know that it is actually alcohol-free sparkling cider!

Your feelings are entirely valid and demonstrate self-acceptance.
And congratulations. :)

congratulations, everybody reacts differently. For me it was a huge relief and an explanation for all of the failures and pains of the past. Autism was at work and back then nobody knew. Most newly diagnosed autistic folks report going through spells of anger because they were not diagnosed sooner, relief at finally knowing , disappointment and wishing things had been different, grief and feelings of sadness for the past and for the present, even for one's future, feelings of being an imposter (denial), in any order and maybe over and over as we work through all the meaning behind understanding autism and especially our selves. Sending best wishes. Take your time and use self care as you sort it all out!

Congratulations. I'm glad you feel validated and vindicated.

But I wouldn't tell every Tom, Dick, Harriet, and Cynthia.

Many people are not enlightened about autism.

Definitely not bad. It has certain undeniable strengths. And any happiness you can have with the condition, take it and hopefully really thrive in life with it.

Happiness and relief in getting diagnosed is normal, as far as I know. I remember feeling the same way.

When I was a kid there wasn't really such a thing as high functioning autism. Instead I got diagnosed with several things that add up to autism these days. So nothing to celebrate over really since it wasn't anything conclusive. But I'm sure after enduring all that testing I was treated to something nice.
