I've lost all my data over the years many times from various problems. It kind of sucks at first but its kind of liberating after a
while when I realized how I did not need any of it anyway. :)

I've did tests and I can login in to WP with a bootable linux cd so i will survive.

Why don't people check these things out before posting?

You don't get viruses from opening your e-mail. You get viruses from opening attachments or clicking on links in your e-mail.

but the point is the hoax is as fear inducing as an actual virus.
Spreading misinformation in the misguided attempt to warn others of impending doom with out a quick run through on the usual urban legend screenings becomes just a type of irritation and potentially harmful spam.
(no offense, Flagg, I mean no offense to you.) It just becomes an object lesson about how to broach a subject with out many pointing out the hoax of it.

I'm not worried. It's not like I ever get mail from anyone but Amazon.com.

I'm aware of that. I just wanted to inform MrMark that it is possible for an email to carry a payload script without having an attachment. Though most email client will block scripting and ActiveX by default, and good virus checkers should detect it. Still if in doubt open as text only. Or just view the source.

Also many people aren't aware that linked images in emails can carry a key linked to the clients email address in the name. Say the image is 1x1 pixel and white. So when the client opens the email, the image is requested. They know you have read the email, and the ip address of the computer associated with the persons email address. If you’re not really to bothered about that then fine. Otherwise you can block linked images.
