TV, Movies, Videogames, etc. It can't fit into one topic.

American Dad - Apparently Santa is a bad guy who spoils nice children with presents so they grow up spoiled while Krampus was a good guy who kept children disciplined. Santa also made a yearly tradition of trying to kill the Smith family after an incident.

Elf Bowling The Movie - A garbage movie and the only interesting thing is that it shows Santa's origins as a pirate.

Family Guy - Santa is tired and overworked due to the overgrowing population children overdemanding presents and his factory operation fell apart.

Futurama - One of the best characters has to be Robot Santa. Originally built, designed, and programmed to deliver presents to children on Christmas, his standards for who is naughty were set too high and now he spends every Christmas delivering death and destruction to everyone...except Zoidberg.

Kyle is Famous - Kyle is a talkshow host who has the option to become Santa Claus after achieving a certain ending. He births an army of elves (that he ate when he visited the Land of Gummy Bears), and believes he has been chosen to become Santa Claus. This game goes really off the rails in terms of plot.

Rise of the Guardians - Santa is Russian

Sam & Max - In the first episode of Beyond Time and Space, Santa is first seen as a gun wielding maniac. In a later episode we learn he hates children. He's married with no kids, moves to the one place on Earth where there are no kids, and chooses the one job where he spends one day of the year with a very small chance he'll be around children. He also loves recalling toys. In The Devil's Playhouse, he's a plutocrat with a monopoly on the toy industry.

Santa's Slay - Santa Claus is an evil demigod who's forced into servitude giving toys to children for a certain amount of centuries and then the servitude expires and he goes on a killing spree.

What are some unique interpretations of Santa you've seen in media?

In Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer (1964 TV special), Santa is an unlikable jerk. When two of his reindeer have a child by the name of Rudolph, Santa makes an appearance to see the young buck and the new parents. He is absolutely outraged to see that the boy has a glowing red nose and yells at the dad for having what he refers to as a defective son. Which leads into a short rant about how Rudolph will be no use to him and how the parents should be ashamed.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993 film) features what you'd expect of Santa, however what makes this interpretation unique is how the residents of Halloween Town react to him. In this film, each holiday has their own world. As such, the Halloween Town locals have no real frame of reference to understand the concept of Santa. When Jack witnesses Santa, he recalls his experience with the rest of his town. The residents get the wrong idea and incorrectly refer to Santa as Sandy Claws and depict him as a monster.

It is common in movies even where Santa Claus does exist in their world for the adults not to believe in him.

I always thought that was so weird. Parents told the kids there was Santa Claus, but then they told their kids they didn't believe in him. Wouldn't the parents notice that a bunch of stuff showed up in their house overnight? How did they explain that?

Interpretation: I'm literal so whatever I was told as a child was gospel.

I believed in this story from early childhood, especially because it started as a news story.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town -- Rankin/Bass 1970

In the story Santa is a redheaded foundling, raised by communists? He hides toys in children's stockings so they won't be confiscated and burned like books. He then marries redheaded Jessica who is a school teacher, on Christmas Eve. The magic of Christmas lights started because of their wedding decorations.

What annoys me is in a lot of adult movies and comedy shows they have to sort of hint that Santa exists. It's like the whole world has to keep up this charade.

Both wear red.

Both laugh with a guttural "ho ho ho".

Do the math!

They're not wrong. Santa is a classist A-hole. Have you noticed that Santa gives rich kids presents like iPad Pros while poor kids get socks? Santa is such a massive classhole!

It's because parents pay Santa. He won't do it for free.

In the Weird Al Yankovic song, "The Night Santa Went Crazy", Santa mentally snapped & started killing his elves & reindeer

In the Kevin Bloody Wilson song, "Ho Ho F#cking Ho", Rudolph quits because he's tired of being wiped, the elves quit due to being majorly overworked & constantly in the cold, & Mrs. Claus is mad at Santa because he's a drunk pedophile who sneaks into children's rooms while they sleep

The Santa Claus(e) I think it's called? Santa dies and as soon as the man whose house he died while visiting (because he's an old man) picks up his card, he is contractually obligated to be the next Santa. Further sequels explore the idea of a contractual Mrs Claus(e), which... no thank you. I see you there, romance film plot device.

Oh how could forget those films? And I'd just forgotten the unspeakable third film. Aagghh!

Oh that reminds me of this game Viscera Cleanup Detail: Santa's Rampage where you clean up the aftermath of what I can assume is the adaptation of that song.

That sounds like an interesting game but I would much rather cause the rampage than clean it up. I think someone should make an American Dad game with Santa trying to kill the Smiths. The battle after they p!ssed him off the 1st time was epic. I saw that ep again a couple nights ago on Adult Swim but I've thought that game idea every time I seen that ep for the last couple years at least.
