Now someone I work with is off because her husband has covid  .I was working with her last night so if she has it as well then that means I've definitely got it, as it's so easy to catch now.

It will be very inconvenient for me to get it because I have to take my unwell pet to the vets this week and I didn't want to leave it too long. Yes, my pets are important. Now I've got to sit indoors for the next 7 days. I probably have got it, no need to even get tested, because this omicron variant is THAT CONTAGIOUS. So if I was working with her the day before then there's a 99.99% chance that I will catch it, as it seems impossible not to catch this omicron s**t. Social distancing and masks do not stop omicron. It's so annoying that we've got to keep putting our lives on hold every time we get a sniffle in case it's covid while we wait for test results, just because of a few people that won't get vaccinated. :x

My pet could die.

Is tehre anyone who could take your pet to the vet for you who isn't in your household. My vet has options for if you have Covid, does yours? Hopefully you do not get it and I'm sorry for all the stress this is causing. Hopefully it mutates into something akin to a cold and we can live normally again. In the meantime though I can tell it is really stressing you out.

You should get tested to make sure. Get a “rapid” test.

I thought I had COViD, too….but all my tests came out negative.

You got your booster, I think. There’s a good chance you didn’t get COVID.

Boostered people are still getting covid. There's no way of escaping it. Omicron is so contagious, the most contagious virus there has ever been on this planet and no amount of social distancing can stop this.

I'm just fed up with having to put your life on hold every time someone near you has been tested positive for covid. I don't know where to get rapid tests from, as they don't seem to have them at my local pharmacy, so I've ordered them online - which will take 2-3 days to arrive. So what do I do in the meantime? I have no symptoms but that's not the point, I could still have it and not know.

I'm going to keep ordering rapid tests every week to take at home because it seems every week I run into someone who has it.

Oh well, 7 days off work does sound sweet - but I don't want to miss my vets appointment for my beloved pet. I don't think there is anyone else who can take him. My boyfriend's sister is the nearest who has a car but she has a fear of our pets so that would be out of the question.

You just can't live your life any more. I think they should start selling rapid tests everywhere like at supermarkets, even if you have to pay for them, because nobody can predict our freedom any more. And if you do have symptoms, even if it's just a cold, you have to send away for a home testing kit, as rapid flow tests aren't always accurate. So altogether it takes about 5 days to order, receive, post off and wait for the results. You've got to do this every time you have a cold too. So I avoid people with colds as well as covid.

I don't think we can go on like this forever, it's getting ridiculous. There are people who don't want to be forced to have vaccines but then do they really want to carry on like this forevermore?

Oh yes you have a rat right? It's a shame people don't appreciate domesticated rats. I learnt they laugh recently and how affectionate they are. It's so cute.

I'm sorry you can't rely on anyone else for this. I hope your pet will be ok.

Lots of people have an irrational fear of rats, which you can't really stop. Like I have an irrational fear of spiders.

I'm just hoping that covid will wait until after my vets appointment just so I can isolate knowing my little guy is being treated.

I will definitely get covid though. I just hope I don't lose my taste. I heard some people have lost their taste from covid and have never got it back. Can this happen if you've been vaccinated 3 times?

I think with this one you lose your appetite.

My rat story (not to one up) is my autistic nephew had one and when it was really old and sick, my sister took it to the vet for euthanasia. The vet balked he had no clue and then my sister explained a major meltdown was about to occur if he couldn't administer the drug. The rat was in pain and what difference if he used too much.

If PCR tests cost the same as antigen tests, get the PCR test.

PCR molecular tests are more accurate.

I know how you feel. Every time I get a sniffle, I get tested. It’s aggravating.

Yup, I can confirm this while currently recovering from covid and could be eligible for covid payments from the government if you are on low income (sadly for me that's not the case).

If you check on the government website in the mornings as I've discovered, you are very likely to have one available, which btw I've spent a good few weeks trying to get.

Some pharmacists should have had some in stock but these days are incredibly hard to get a hold of so that is completely out of the equation. My workplace actually had some lateral flow and sadly thats how I found out I got covid.

Developed symptoms on Wednesday and now it is very unlikely I'll be leaving on day 6 and 7, I keep coming up positive even though most my symptoms have gone.

Honestly, your better off doing a PCR if in doubt.

Since I've been getting myself tested regularly, I feel much less stressed about covid.

So this whole anxiety thing with the virus wasn't about myself getting it, it's about other people getting it. Goes to show I'm a naturally selfless person.

Well you know the latest wave of infections has peaked in the UK. In a month you should be much less stressed.

Omicron is everywhere...

I am fully vaccinated plus booster, had Delta a couple months ago...

Yesterday I had to go to the store and since I got my food stamps on Saturday I needed a ride...

My cousin shows up, runny nose, sounded stuffed up, first thing out of his mouth. "I just have a cold".

I go in the very crowded store, and well I'm woke up this morning feeling slightly off...

Hopefully Omicron really is mild like they say, but I really, really don't see a way to avoid it.

Also, some of the grocery shelves were empty or had item limits, it's obvious we're in for the long haul.

We're approaching a peak here as well.

Covid is not something to play with , Even a no risk life style is no guarantee that your not going to get this. This is ridiculous.... i hope they make the pcr available to everyone. through a no cost gov program .

I'm just fed up because I'd really like a vacation this year, but nothing is guaranteed any more because you just don't know if you're going to catch covid all of a sudden and can't go. Or you might be tested positive while on vacation and you have to be quarantined in a hotel place for days.

Life was so simple before 2020.

Don't know what to make of the whole business. I went through almost the whole of 2021 unaffected by Covid, and had two vaccinations (in March and June).

Then in mid-December, I got what in normal circumstances would have been described as a cold, or mild flu: runny nose, sneezing, etc, followed by a few days with a tickly throat and coughing. Went for my 'Covid Booster' jab on 4 January, told the nurse of my symptoms, and she said I could well have had Covid, but who could tell anyway?

If it was Covid, maybe by now it has metamorphosed into something not much worse than the common cold. That's my take on the situation anyway, for what it's worth.
