Major change

I can’t decide on a major for school, as my interests always change and I struggle with tests/concentrating on subjects I’m not interested in. I’ve been in school for 5 years and I still don’t see an end anytime soon as I’ve changed my major 4 times. My parents and aunt have talked me into going into Accounting, as it’s a safe field and my aunt is an accountant, so she can help me and help me get a job. I don’t love it, it’s boring.. but it’ll land me a job where I can make good $$ and pursue my special interests. I just have this feeling in my stomach that tells me to pursue something else.. but everything else fails. I just don’t have an interest in Accounting at all. But, I suppose it is a job. If I don’t go to school or finish I am stuck with the job I have now, which I also don’t like. I am just venting. Life is hard, and it is hard to choose a job/career path. I’ve got 2 1/2 years on this path and I’ll be an accountant.

It’s called work and not fun for a reason. I know people who’ve become accountants simply to earn enough money to have the life they want - they’re very good at their jobs, but not in love with them. Nothing wrong with that in the grand scheme of life. It’s better than aimlessness or just floating through life with low pay at a job you Also don’t care for. At least there will always be work to do and decent money to earn depending on your level of certification. Better an unpassionate accountant than doctor, imo. Especially if your interests cost more than your current income supports - then you can get through your days, weeks, and years knowing that you’re doing it for your life and interests outside of work hours.
