Do you like what you are, or would you rather be an NT? What are the Pros and Cons?

I'm glad to know I'm an aspie; it makes a lot of things easier to understand.

And I don't wish I was NT.

Sometimes I wish I didn't have so many characteristics I find to be weird/messy/wrong.

i happy that im an aspie because other wise i would judge people alot. i try to take everything into account when i judge a person because i know how it is to go through hard stuff and to have difficulties. though many times i wish i was "normal" overall i am glad to be an aspie

I appreciate that. There should be bosses who think you. LOL, not all bosses are the same either, just the ones I've met. With the exception of Jeremy and Maria.

I'm not sure what it's like to be NT, but I know I'd rather not be an Aspie. I am who I am, and I don't hate myself or anything, but I do think life is a lot harder for me than it needs to be. Maybe if I had had a relatively peaceful childhood / teenage years I could have developed the positive Aspie qualities more, but as it was, I just basically got the negatives out of it.

I'm not exactly overjoyed with AS, but I don't have much choice in the matter and I have built myself a reletively happy and contented life around it.

After all the time and effort I have put into living with AS over the years, to wish to be NT (and thus go back to square one) would be foolish.

When I was first diagnosed with AS, the first thing that came into my mind was "Syndrome, is that permanent?". Then I found out that it was something you were born with, and I was then thinking "Oh no, I'm going to have this forever,". I wished I was NT back then.

But now, after how much I've accomplished because of some of my AS traits, I am glad to be an Aspie. I couldn't even imagine being NT. To have to understand sarcasm, puns, metaphors would personally be stressful for me.

I would very much love to be NT.

But I have embraced my Aspie side and grown to like it.

I have some issues with being ASP, but wouldn't want to be as 'illogical' as an NT.

I'd love to be able to relate to other people more though... (It really sucks when people say you lack empathy, as if I could do anything about that...)

I wouldn't go back and change my aspieness, I would just change my attitude towards things. I'm happy to be alive.

I love being alone where no one bothers me. I like having obsessions because it makes me feel excited when I think about them. I like having quirks and being a bit crazy.

But I hate the fact that I have to be like that.
