Thank you all so much.
Your prayers and vibes were answered.

After a very, very long day my baby boy is recovering.

No. ^

When we arrived he was unable to move his hind legs, lift his head, or keep his body straight.
He kept rolling to one side.
He had thrown up and pooped all over himself, and he was shaking uncontrollably.
This was very sudden. He had been fine just moments before.

They took him straight away on emergency triage and we sat in the waiting room about eight hours.
I didn't get to go in the room with him, and didn't even meet the doctor because of Covid restrictions.
We communicated by phone even though I was in the waiting room.
I saw some tragic things in that waiting room. :(

Thank goodness she doesn't think it was a stroke.
He's recovering enough that it was probably a bad seizure and / or a cardiac event.
He is able to bear weight on his feet again but he's still weak and disoriented.

That's better news than some other possibilities.
Always so stressful when our critters have health crises.
And when there are continuing unknowns.
He's back home with the people who love him and at least that much is good.

Yeah, I'm still shaken up.
I couldn't have handled losing my dog.

I'm still stressing about a single mum and 10yo daughter who had to put their kitty down.
They couldn't afford treatment for a similar condition to my dog's.
The poor mother was trying to console her daughter.
She knew she had broken the girl's heart.

It was all just too much.

I have no idea how anyone can work at an emergency vet and see this every day.
More power to them.

That is sad, idk if this country ever gets going back on the right track if we got universal health care, I think there should also be some amount for pets. So perhaps people would not have to choose to put their pet down when it could be saved but they can't afford that. I say we need universal healthcare for every person and yes also their pets, if we are a society that keeps cats and dogs and other animals as pets, we need to provide care for them as well.

Oh man that's heartbreaking.

And that a lack of money leads to death is ... I don't know what word to pin on it.

There is too much loss and suffering on this little ball of rock and water, far, far, too much, critters and humans both.

Georgie cat, now 13 years old, and sitting next to me, wouldn't be here if my parents hadn't paid a $700 vet bill some years ago when my SSD budget couldn't cover it.

Grumman cat is 14 going on 15 & his health emergency was covered by the rescuer I got him from when he was juvenile age.
