Hit the highway for a rip into town and back and bested my top speed record by 10kmh - well, assuming my speedo is accurate I'd previously gone 140kmh or so and last night hit just over 150kmh. Chances are both speeds read a bit high, as speeder-reader signs that display your speed according to their measuring devices always read a bit lower than my speedometer needle indicates. One of these days/nights when it's super safe to do so I wanna hit a legit 161kmh just to say I rode 100mph.

Obviously this was on a closed track and no laws were broken in the process.

That's about 94mph.

Motorcycle I assume? Congrats on beating your record. I'll admit that I quite enjoy high speeds on the interstates.

150 km/h is about 93.75 mi/h.  Impressive, but please be careful.

Yep, my '93 BMW K75. (750cc, 75hp, ~519lbs, shaft drive, user manual top speed 205kmh)

But of course. It was a while after sunset, still a bit of twilight vs. pitch black, on a long straight stretch of smooth highway. I intentionally shot ahead of highway traffic behind me and stayed behind traffic ahead of me - no vehicles ahead or behind for probably 1/2 a mile or so, so no chance of colliding with anyone should they brake or change lanes etc.

Fast motorcycles all cap out around 300kmh, the "gentleman's agreement," top speed of the industry. It's speeds well in excess of 200kmh where things could get dicey real fast.. as some of my friends have noted when they're up around 240-300kmh, they have thoughts like "Hmm.. maybe I should slow down a little? Hit just one little stone at this speed and it could be game over.."

Not that 150-161kmh couldn't end badly, but it's certainly not as sketch as ~twice the velocity where reaction times need to be razor sharp and one pebble could create lift and cause.. an undesirable effect.

I hit 180kmh in a 1985 VW Gold on my way to Las Vegas. :D Also drove 180kmh in a 2003 BMW M5 (and got pulled over and got the car impounded.. which was on the day my friend imported the car from California to Canada lol that cost me $750) & then a few years later I was riding shotgun in that car with another passenger in the rear when we hit 280kmh on the highway I was on last night.. 8) Obviously the original owner had the speed limiter removed. We'd have gone 300 but the clutch started slipping. We did replace the clutch, and he modified the headers and some other things - but he never ever did drive that car up to those speeds again in all the years he owned it afterwards. Fun times! :D
