I was 9 years ago today that I was diagnosed and joined this site.
During the past 9 years while America has become more polarized WP and the greater Autism community less so. We still have disagreements over fundamental issues, things do get heated every so often but most conversations are civil and sometimes people who are polar opposites find common ground.
As noted in the Autism politics section today the visibility of autistic adults has increased greatly during this time. I would add the quality of the representation is markedly better. The previous in no way should diminish the substantial and frustrating problems that remain. This frustration should not stop us from appreciating the progress that has been made.
It has been a privilege to be given the opportunity to be part of this site and to interact with you.
I want to thank the mods who are doing a good job, especially considering the circumstances.
Again thanks go to Alex Plank who started this whole thing. I hope where ever he is and whatever he is doing these days it is giving him satisfaction.

“My autism is not a superpower. It also isn’t some kind of god-forsaken, endless fountain of suffering inflicted on my family. It’s just part of who I am as a person”. - Sara Luterman
