Feeling indecisive. There are a handful I like. The only difference is the colour/graphics, yet the price range is $152 difference. ($664-816)

Mind you, this is The Cheapest website for this model. Other places they're $1099-1299 for the Exact Same Thing.

So, clearly I'll be ordering from this site. Not all of them are in stock in my size (L I believe, will confirm as my twin brother has the same one and his wife has a M.. that's how I know it fits And is worth the $$$ compared to the $180 one I have.)

Gonna get myself one and probably my dad too once he figures out size.

Annnyways, what colour/graphic would YOU pick? I'm curious if there's a much more popular favourite or two of the ones I like. But also struggling with paying $152 more for a different colour when the cheapest one isn't exactly butt ugly lol

Shiny red, shiny black, or the TC-1 (flames).

I don't buy anything white.
The silver ones are meh.
I wouldn't want to draw too much attention to myself with the really fancy ones.

Do dark colours make them hotter in summer?

Ironic: I was thinking about my snowmobile helmet yesterday.

I know absolutely nothing about those but "Neotec II Wine Red Modular Helmet" somehow looks most appealing to me.

Get the cheapest and sticker bomb it.

These are motorcycle helmets. What, you're getting ready for winter?

Personally I'm partial to Simpson helmets... Out of motorcycle models perhaps a Bandit.

Not likely gonna sticker a helmet.

My collector plate insurance is dirt cheap so I leave it insured year round. We don’t get much snow here, usually only a few weeks or so of actual winter weather. So as long as it’s not raining, riding during the day is possible every month all year long. Last winter sucked, but the one before I rode a few times every single month.

I should have just bought a better helmet sooner, but I didn’t. My father is slowly dying. He’s got his licence renewed so any Good days we’ll go riding. With his health we should have radio comm systems, and for those we should have new much better helmets with no wind noise vs the cheap ones we have. Shoei’s fit that bill and I Know it fits me as my twin brother has one. Dad may or may not be around come spring/summer, so, whatever - new helmets and radios Now.

I'd get the cute, little one that looks like a German helmet.

I would get the one with the highest safety rating since it’s protecting my head. Also one that other motorists can see, many cyclist are hit by cars because the driver didn’t see them.

They all meet the same minimum safety requirements. Although full face is better than open face, and double layer pin lock visors are safer than single as they don’t fog up - my cheap one I typically have to prop open a bit to vent when it fogs.

The $$ is for comfort and wind noise reduction/elimination. These ones are designed to be neutrally buoyant at highway speeds - the shape gives them the amount of aerodynamic lift to support their own weight so they feel weightless vs heavy. Etc.

There are reasons ppl pay $1300 vs $200 but even a $200 helmet will do it’s job saving your brain in a crash. It’s all the extra little features that are worth the $ that make riding better.

My current helmet is neon yellow for that reason - visibility. But a shop employee told me studies prove bright colours don’t help with being seen much and that *reflective* strips/decals catch ppls eyes much better. I dunno.. I think bright yellow is more visible than matte black.

Was once on a motorcycle with a friend when a lady just pulled out in front of us, she looked our way, and didn’t see us.
Lucky for us a rural two lane so we could avoid her.Helmets were dark colored.
Always go with a visor, I got hit by a bug in the corner of the eye and it really hurt.
A deer knocked a cyclist off his bike here, sometimes they are a menace.

Yep, that happens. The guy that officiates the start of the Tough Mudder in Whistler every year had a broken leg one time because a deer ran out in front of his motorcycle somewhere here in BC.

I've seen deer while riding, and some crossed the road in front of a pickup we had to stop quickly behind once, but that's as close as it's gotten for me. Hard to say exactly how things would go down if it ever happened to me.. I'd like to think I'd react as trained, buuuuut, can't say for certain that I would for sure since our brains are wired the opposite of what's safe on a motorcycle. We're wired to look at and identify hazards.. but on a bike, where you look is where you go.. sooo, you need to look away from the deer/obstacle and towards the escape route, then your body and the bike follow.

I really should practice some of those reaction skills more just to keep the training fresh.

There’s no exact colour match.
Some colours go with everything.

My bike is a blue colour, jacket and gloves etc are black.

I might buy another bike in a year or two and no idea what colour it might be sooo, not gonna try to buy a helmet that matches a bike exactly.

Maybe. But then it’d be the same as my twin brothers and when we take them off and set them down they could get mixed up.

Also still considering just buying the cheapest one vs paying a price premium for a different colour.

Hmm..

Went for a ride last night and my helmet annoyed me with the wind noise and fogging up.

So I went to a local shop and tried on helmets and ordered one of these in the Winsome TC-6 white/black colour scheme. It’ll go with everything and also match the black and white patch I’m going to have made for my jacket. 8)

Also bought a pair of cardo edge radios. (latest & greatest!)

Helmet was pricier than the site above at $995 taxes in, buuut, this site is apparently in Holland so Canadian prices are approximate + international shipping & duty etc etc so might end up costing more to order online anyways.

Now to get my dad to try on a couple sizes of helmets and get one for him, too. (His sucks, too. He may as well have the Best for any rides he can still go on! Eventually he’ll pass and someone else in the fam can use it.)

I'd get pea green for myself.
