By boomer shooter, i mean old school fps's or old school styled fps games. I've personally bought a few on steam, but any recommendations would be appreciated.

Postal: Brain Damaged, Gun Godz, and Fashion Police Squad are all really fun Boomer Shooters that are avalible on Steam. I recommend checking those games out if your looking for some new Boomer Shooters to play.

If your looking for OG boomer-shooters, then Doom 64 and Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour are also on Steam, and you should also check those out.

If you want real Boomer Shooters, you're going to have to grab an Atari. My favorites were probably River Raid and Zaxxon.

Those aren't boomer shooters, those are what granddad played during the war

Seriously I keep trying boomer shooters and getting bored too quickly... Doom is good sure enough but it gets repetitive. I'd probably be crucified by the real Gamers for saying that but oh well.

The original Unreal perhaps?

I do play vanilla Doom 2 on a source port from time to time.

Blood. Now that a game with the right attitude. 8)

I tried a NOLF before... It's a tad quirky. I thought I'd dig the style, but it didn't go from weird to good. I tried one of the later ones, if that matters.

I'd say XIII is in the same for artistic reasons. Though this one does have some fond memories.

I think I heard good things about the first two.
You're the first person who I know who has a critical word to say about it

Looks like No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way is the one I tried. Yeah, it just never got fun. It was all quirk.

you're probably right.

You could be a first person shooter, shooter.

If you're the 'first person ' to say something bad about it (sorry for bad joke)

Doom
Quake (I through III Arena)
Duke Nukem
Wolfenstein 3D
Goldeneye (James Bond game)

Sadly, I've never been good at these kinds of games as I'm more of the "let me get a rifle and sit far away and pick off people" type shooter...so more recent games like the Sniper Elite series are more my speed. Especially now as I don't like competing against anyone else in the new games (reaction times and all that).

Sounds like Halo infinite is right up your alley. Most of the levels are open world and the gameplay is mostly just spamming enemies at long distance, rinse and repeat. The combat is too unpredictable so people just resort to exploits such as camping power weapons and spamming from a distance.
