Why does an artist give tickets/merchandise to fan friends?

Someone gets concert tickets of their favorite artist. But some gets merchandise for a friend, family member or a boyfriend/girlfriend who is a fan. Why is that?

You would have to query the artists themselves to determine their motivations.  Mostly, however, it is because they can.

NTs bond and show affection and make alliances this way, by "hooking up" their friends and allies. Yes, even artists need a social circle/entourage. Good way to build one.

Other Possible Reasons Why People Give Things to Their Friends:

• To Build and Reinforce Relationships

• To Celebrate a Milestone or an Occasion

• To Express Gratitude and Appreciation

• To Help Others

• To Impress Others

• To Make Someone Happy

• To Offer Encouragement and Support

• To Receive Something in Return

• To Say, "I am Sorry"

• To Say, "I am Thinking About You"

• To Show Love and Devotion

• To Stay in Touch

Once famous, artists don't have time to hangout with every fan like they may have at the first small show they ever performed at. But maybe they still Like to connect with their fans, so they agree to do meet and greets in part because they like it.. but also to further promote themselves, get interviews/soundbites recorded for marketing purposes, create positive reviews by that fan that ripple out on social media etc etc.

Maybe they do it because they enjoy it, or maybe they do it Only because their record deal insists that they must as part of their marketing mix because they know it's good for business and will help sell tickets, albums, downloads/streams, merchandise, and get radio play requests.

Or both.



Reminds me of one of my favourite movie quotes of all time, from the Tom Cruise movie "Vanilla Sky." Quote: "What's the answer to 99 out of 100 questions that start with "Why"?" ..answer: "Money." (That's why people do things.)

What? :?

You're not being very clear about what scenario you are describing.

Someone who gives someone tickets as a gift? An artist/performer gives someone tickets as a gift ? Some random person gives tickets to something as a gift?


Do we really need to go over the reasons people give gifts to other people ? :? Birthdays, Christmas, house warmings, general generosity... do you really not understand why someone would give tickets to an event as a gift? :?

edit: Returning to the question in the thread title that's a little more clearly written:

Because they have that gift to offer their fan friends so they give it as a gift ???

If one of my friends became a famous musician/other performing artist I'd appreciate that they thought to give me free tickets and merch as gifts - especially if they knew I was a fan.

I'm not a performer/musician, but if I Were I'd hook my friends up with free tickets if I could and knew they liked my work and would appreciate being able to attend w/o having to buy tickets to see their friend perform.


It's quite perplexing to me how this all isn't very obvious and apparent to you.. why you're asking why ??
