I’m speaking from a philosophical standpoint, but it doesn’t have to be a purely philosophical work.

If you were profoundly influenced by Bridget Jones’ Diary, I want to hear about it.

That’s quite a collection!

I feel like politicians and our country as a whole would benefit from reading such works, especially the 50 Shades series and The Art of Oral Sex.

For me:

Walden and Leaves of Grass

When I’m in a nihilistic mood: L’Étranger.

There are so many great moments in Shakespeare’s plays, too.

I feel like life is essentially meaningless, but it’s about enjoying the sublimity during the brief moments that we’re here. That sort of thing.

Excellent! That's a good one. I first became aware of K when I was 20. 'The Ending of Thought' is one I return to every so often.

Well, that's a tough question. I've read a lot of books, but I think that there are two which made me feel the whole specter of emotions. The first one is called Kindred By Octavia Butler. I've read other books by Octavia Butler, but that one is the best one so far. For me, the whole topic of slavery is very sensitive, and that book just made me think about so many things. I decided to read and write on it because it was a task for my literature class, and I came across this site where I read some info about that book and managed to check free essay database, and it made me interested so that I decided to read it. And it was for sure worth it. And the next book is called The Alice Network by Kate Quinn, and that book I read in one day. I was so into the plot, and I can say that it's one of my favorite books for now. The novel uses a dual narrative approach, alternating between events that occurred beginning in 1915 and in 1947, and tells the stories of two women. It's based on real-life stories, and I was very affected by that novel.

For impact, we are looking primarily at older child or young adult reading. That is where the big impact is. Of course over some 60 years there's been lots of books with impact.

Sand County Almanac
Desert Solitaire
Soul Catcher, Frank Herbert
Hellstrom's Hive, Frank Herbert
Stranger in a Strange Land, Heinlein
All the Little House books
Strawberry Girl and all the Lois Lensky books
Black Like Me
Walden Two
