I don't know if this will make sense to anyone here, or if it is something related to autism, but lately I've noticed that complete silence makes me extremely uncomfortable. I've googled it and can't find anything, but the absence of sound almost hurts and makes me nauseous until I can create external sounds somehow. Does anyone else experience this?

Tinnitus can cause ear pain when things are quiet. That's unrelated to autism but some psych meds can sometimes cause it.
If that's not what's going on I would guess it's related to ADD/ADHD &/or anxiety. Having background noise gives you something to focus on & distracts you from feeling anxious.

I know that if things were like totally dead silent, most people find that unnerving. There's almost always at least little noises. For example, the "world's most silent room" with nothing in it, darkness, and sound-absorbing walls. Most people don't last more than an hour in there, if that.

But like, if you just mean being in the house and it's quiet, I wouldn't know.
