I read encyclopedias all the time. Wikipedia, Encyclopaedia Britannica, etc. It's like a hobby of mine, and it's not unusual to see myself reading random articles for three to four hours a day.

Do you read encyclopedias? If so, is it a hobby for you?

I really get into them sometimes. I don't really have a proper encyclopedia at home to abuse but I can get easily engrossed in wikipedia on random things from time to time. I can get that way with maps too. I have way too much fun with google earth sometimes.

I read three sets when I was younger; Funk & Wagnalls, The Book of Knowledge, and Groliers Encyclopedia - all multi-volume sets. Loved reading them! (No computer in those days).

Oh, I love Wikipedia. I can read it for hours and hours... I especially like to re-read the articles on my favorite subjects.

I read medical books as a hobby. Have since I was a child.

Not in quite some time (I haven't got a lot of free time), but as a kid I read them every day - one of my favorite activities - from the time I was about 3 years old.

I used to be right into that. Britannica, Grolier, the local library, etc...

And then there came this wonderful advent of technology: yours truly, the Internet.

Something crosses my mind and I want to find out more: I just Google it

Mostly just Wikipedia. I used to read my outdated encyclopedias, but I got rid of them a few months ago because they were over thirty years old. I'd like a new set, but they're expensive.

When I was a kid, I read encyclopediae, the phone book, dictionaries. I don't have a set now but I read wikipedia for hours on end. The problem with Wiki is that it's publically editted so the information isn't always accurate or unbiased.

I love to search on the internet.

Yeah as a kid I read our 1976 World Book of Encyclopedia set. I would usually start looking up one subject and get into and endless tangent of looking up other things. The internet pretty much has eliminated the need for hard copy books though.

My 6 year old with AS reads them all the time, at home and at school, dictionaries too and there is an old 1970-something repair manual in my truck, he reads that too! And I know he is only 6, but I am pretty sure he understands a large majority of it!

Yeah, sometimes I get stuck on wikipedia for hours reading random articles. It's easy because while you're reading one article there are so many links to other interesting articles.

Plus, I've gotten in the habit of looking up anything I learn or hear about, to see if there's an article on wikipedia about it. Dunno why.
