This is for women only.

My daughter and I disagree on this, so I'm curious of your opinions.

If you were invited to meet a man you'd never met before (e.g., internet dating or an online platonic friend), and you drove your car to the location to meet them, do you think it's customary for the man to see you to your car afterward and check up that you arrived home safely?

My daughter thinks I'm old-fashioned so I'm curious how that works these days.

Thanks!

I would think that he would check up to see if she made it home safely, especially if she had to drive much further to see him or there were less-than-ideal conditions (weather, traffic, etc.).

I would check up on the guy in such a scenario.

With all things being equal like the distance or traffic, should the man still do that or is it sexist?

It might depend on the people involved. I suppose some people could view it as sexist. If it’s quite a drive, it would make sense for one or the other to check in IMO.

Actually I don’t mind if men answer.

I’d be curious to know if it’s something they’d do.

I would want to know they were safe.
Its a human caring thing, not necessarily a dating thing.
Dont tell me this is now viewed as a bad thing.

I think of it as polite rather than customary. I would be inclined to do it, but not out of a sense of obligation. If I were meeting someone I already knew for the first time in person like that they would already be someone I care about, so it would only be natural. Either way it seems like I'd be considered sexist by a not insignificant number of people for doing this, particularly young people. I'm not sure it's seen as customary anymore among the majority of the younger generations.

It is sexist if the expectation is one sided.

^ But do you think that it’s the right thing to do, especially if a person has a much longer drive?

Which person has a greater chance of being … say … at risk … of stranger danger if their car breaks down on the side of the road?

That’s potentially a sexist assumption.

Maybe she is much bigger and physically stronger than her date.

^ Most often, it’s the other way around.

Bad things do happen in such a scenario, and even if they don’t, the fear is still there, especially if the woman has experienced previous trauma.

Car accidents don’t discriminate.
