Isn't this kind of a misnomer?

I don't know of too many people who think that the climate is static and has never changed at all.

I think most people would infer from the words, the associated topic of climate change and those that deny that there is an issue of anthropogenic climate change.

You cant go through life being THAT autistic. You cant take everything THAT literally.

People cant recite the entire Encyclopedea Britannica everytime they open their mouths.

A person who denies the reality of the Nazi Holocaust would be a "Holocaust Denier". In that case the one word "holocaust" suffices.

But if you buy into Trump's public words and believe that the 2020 election was stolen then you, like the above holocaust denier, are denying the reality of something widely accepted as real. The something being that Biden won that election fairly. So you would be what they call an "election denier". Strictly speaking you're not denying all elections. Just that one. But they cant call you a "twenty-twenty Biden election victory denier". So they just call you an "election denier". An everyone knows what the label means (whether they agree with such denial or not).

Likewise the current controversy about climate has to do with the recent (by geological standards) and sudden (by geological standards) rise in global temperature since the start of the industrial revolution two centuries ago.

Scientists say the climate is changing, AND that humans are causing it. Some deny that this particular current trend is happening at all (that climate is even changing now). Some concede that climate is changing but are not convinced that humans are causing it via air pollution.

So the last two are "denying" the consensus of the first group. You could call them "deniers of the current change in climate" or "deniers of human caused climate change". But its easier to just say "climate deniers" or "climate change deniers". And everyone gets what you mean.

Climate change most typically refers to the current warming of the planet that is observed. The Wikipedia article titled "climate change" is about this, while they mention in the article that "climate change" can also refer to other periods of time when the climate has changed.

From where I came from, it's impossible to be a climate change denier.

Mostly because my country is one of the most vulnerable to climate change.
How climate affects everything here is a directly observable fact.

The way people are denying climate change by the increased severity and frequency of weather disasters is infuriating, but lately it seems if all weather is because of climate change. It's hot and humid in summer? Climate change. Umm, it's summer, it would be weird for it not to be hot and humid. Climate change. Snowing and freezing in winter? Climate change. Light drizzle? Climate change.

I get worried now when it's raining and windy out because it could just turn into a severe tropical storm at any minute. I feel strange vibrations under my feet and wonder was that just a very mild earthquake? Not likely where I live, but not impossible.

But the nukes will probably get us first. Or maybe even the asteroids.

There are changes in everyday weather that are abnormal. Where I live the summers have been mostly over 100F degree days, when only recently they were mostly over 90F degree days. That is a significant change and is very likely due to climate change, though it's not possible to pin it down that specifically.

Whether climate change is man-made is irrelevant.
We have the ability to do something about it and must, even if it is a natural phenomenon, as your children will suffer from what is coming.

(I don't have kids, so I can sit back and wait for the deniers realise their mistake, although with the new conservative advent we may never hear about it before I'm gone.)

It is relevant that it's human-made (although yeah, it's mostly men who are to blame) because the solution is to stop doing what we're doing. People who deny anthropogenic climate change will argue that we're not doing anything wrong so let's keep burning fossil fuels. As usual, the human ego cannot admit the tiniest wrongdoing.

Or you could decide to care about everyone instead of just your family. Strangely enough, it actually is possible. Just a thought.
