So 18, also black and a dude If It matters (which I think It does, especially to some -pigs- cops) but I know I'm left leaning already, I think the Nordic Model Is good (but just know not applicable to America). I believe people should be paid a living wage, that corporations should pay the equivalent of tax as we do. I find It idiotic that any of MY money goes to the government, especially when people say it's "not the governments job to help you". Then why tf do we pay them? If I'm giving MY money to the Government, then they should give US something back. Why not make Healthcare cheaper? Better yet, Universal? I feel like Punk, I'm mad at how things are, but contempt and enjoy my life, what do you call It?

Well, let's examine the pertinent points:

• You hate cops. Does this apply to only those who have arrested you, or to all law-enforcement officer everywhere?

• You claim to lean left. Assuming you mean politically, what specific 'leftist' ideals do you embrace?

• You admire the Nordic Model.  Does this include the Odenic religion, as well?

• You believe in being paid a living wage.  Do you also believe in earning it, too?

• You favor corporate taxation.  This is moot, since corporations are already taxed.

• You disfavor taxation (e.g., your money going to the government).  This conflicts with the previous statement.

• You want your taxes to be returned to you.  This is already happening, just not the way you want it.

I will hazard a guess and say that your ideology is mostly Libertarian, but I could be wrong.

Hi KillshotGeek. The first part of your statement tells me you might feel at home with the Bernie Sanders posse and/or "The Squad" (see Wikipedia). The second part is more confusing but it seems libertarian in spirit (not at all a bunch of people in favor of a living wage and taxing the corporations the way Sanders would do).

If this can help: get in touch with local political organizations, ask for a copy of their program - they' be pleased to answer your questions, I'm sure, or even to have you as a volunteer. Also: read as much as you can about the topics you feel concerned about. Books, magazines (lots of free good stuff online) and try to balance your sources.

I read your post and felt as though I wanted to add a few of my own comments.



Why would you assume that the OP, a black dude, has been arrested? That seems kind of presumptuous.



I think it is obvious from the context that he was referring to the Nordic economic model.



A lot of corporations are taxed at such a vanishingly low rate, so as to not to be proportional at all to their profits. This is particular true of bigger, international corporations. Amazon, with its off-shore, low tax havens comes to mind.



I am fairly certain he was trying to voice support for proportional taxation, and that he should be paying less or nothing as someone who is presumably not earning multi billion dollar earnings, such as that which corporations often have.

I would say militant Social Democrat with the additional factor of having experienced aspects of life that most Social Democrats only read about. I don't see anything here that correlates with Libertarianism, except that he wants to feel free.

We at least have universal healthcare.

We do pay high taxes, though. And we complain about it. But we acknowledge that we do get things for it: roads, schools, hospitals, police/fire/ambulance, healthcare etc. and a tiny bit of social assistance (welfare) and old age pension. (not enough to survive anymore.)

The government DOES give you stuff. It gives you roads. The military to protect you. And the police to...um....um... to harass you for driving while being Black.

Looks to me like a set of attitudes that don't particularly fit any standard ideology I know of. In other words, it's what would be expected from a normal human being.

Implying that I was motivated by racism is presumptuous.

The people who seem to hate the cops the most are those who have previously been arrested, regardless of the color of their skin or their ethnicity.

It is like the maxim, "A conservative is a person who has just been mugged, while a liberal is a person who has just been arrested".

Having been on both sides of that statement, I can vouch for its validity.
