Do you tend to always wear the same clothes?

Yes. I wear the same hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans, white socks, black walking shoes every single day. I've done it for over a year now that I've self diagnosed with Aspergers. I think of it as my uniform. It gives me a sense of security and stability.

It's not as bad as it sounds. Nobody sees me anymore. I still work, but I'm the only one in the office.
As far as I know, nobody knows I'm doing it.

Yes, I think this is a trait of autism. Some autistic folk do it out of a sense of routine, others because it is a functional thing to do, and others because of a lack of executive function to have a whole wardrobe be washed and dried on a regular basis so as to be suitable for wearing.

I wear the same shoes every day, I wear the same few outfits repeatedly, and I haven't bought new clothes in years (though my girlfriend is finally coming with me to get some clothes that don't make me look like a child, as most of my clothes were purchased in late high school or college.)

I think part of why I wear the same outfits is that I have zero concept of fashion. I was frequently made fun of by mostly my family for my lack of ability to recognize what "matched" or what was appropriate. I still get a lot of anxiety dressing myself for situations I'm not in frequently (nice dinners, weddings, funerals, etc.) because I'm worried that I'm somehow dressing so inappropriately as to be offensive. I don't mean that I'm wearing tuxedo t-shirts to funerals, but I once forgot to wear a tie to a funeral and could not stop ruminating over the fact that every man there was wearing a tie except for me.

Those things choke me anyways.

My case is strange. Once I began working from home, I started wearing the same thing, give or take, every single day.

However, when I go to the gym, I like wearing a variety of leggings. I wore a school uniform till seventh grade (new school). So in junior high I wanted as much clothes as possible and loved that I had 14 pairs of pants (and wanted more). I've always had a variety of clothes for the workplace, and at one point, purchased a BUNCH of pull-over sweaters (for like a dollar each) from a thrift store to wear at work over a tee shirt becauuse it was chilly. I liked that every day I came in with a different color sweater top.

Working from home now, I wear the same shirt and pants every day till they need to be washed. I change the shirt (I wear the pants for longer). But when I go to the gym I wear gym clothes. I usually change the home pants when I go shopping, and often change the home shirt. But if I'm staying home on any particular day, I wear one pair of comfy pants, and alternate between three or four shirts.

I have seven or eight shirts, but they're all identical - light blue. I have one pair of shoes.

I’m not utterly wedded to routine but I have five spring/summer business casual outfits and five fall/winter business casual outfits that I wear to work each week (other than days on which I have to wear a suit). I will do some minor rotation between days but I pretty much have a Monday outfit, a Tuesday outfit, a Wednesday outfit and so forth. I also eat the same thing every Monday, every Tuesday, every Wednesday etc. again except when I have to go out for dinner for work a few times a month.

I have more clothes than I actually wear, but I tend to wear clothes multiple times before they get washed.

I try to switch up what I wear for social occasions, mostly for a sense of fashion and so I don't look like I am wearing the same thing to other people every time that I see them.

I vary the shirts. But they're plaid. I vary the plaids, however.

The rest of the outfit is pretty consistent.

When my bride accompanied me for the Adult Autism Assessment the psychologist asked her how I dressed. I am still amused by how my bride just waved her hand at me (essentially, "Like that").

I wear the same thing or close to the same thing every day. I think it's common among Aspies.

I wear the same things until they're ragged. When I was a teenager my dad used to tell me I dress like a homeless person

I wear plain t-shirts with jeans and a hoodie pretty much whenever I go out, and pajamas at home

I would prefer to wear the same few things everyday. I’m not sure why.

i always [when outside the house] wear a net tank top, lightweight trousers with belt and suspenders, orthopedic shoes and thick socks. in the winter i dress darkly and in the warmer months i dress in lighter colors. i never cared for heavy clothing, and stylish clothing never fit me well.

I do it like this too.

My partner looks for me a lot of stock clothes, because here after the fashion shows you can find very classy clothes.

I almost always wear the same things.

Only when it forces me to change my way of dressing do I do it.

Obviously everything I wear is super clean and perfect.

But I tend not to change my choices.

Like Adam did (Hugh Dancy in the film, I'm like him even in food... I separate, I do the same things in series, they're not important to me)

However, still theoretically having to dress very elegantly I would only be able to do so by asking.

And on rare and special occasions I do.

The point of the discussion is that I would like it, then I think that there are people who don't even have homes and are on the streets, and I feel really stupid.

If I could get away with it, I'd not change my clothes. Don't know exactly why - ASD ? Depression ? Soap dodger?
