and offered you the blue pill or red pill, which one would you take? The blue pill, and keep your current life, or the red pill, and enter the real world, and maybe not have to deal with any discrimination that you currently have to deal with?

the blue pill = diphenhydramine
the red pill = dextromethorphan

A handful of the former, a few handfuls of the latter.

Well I'm already aware of how the world is, and I'm not happy with where I am at. Might as well go with the red pill.

The blue pill, but only if it has a white, lower-case 'm' on it.

Actually, I'd take the whole bag.

The question doesnt even make sense.

A pill that does something vs a pill that doesnt do anything?

Just make it a pill vs no pill.

Forget the Matrix.

If a doctor offered you a pill, or...no pill at all.

No pill at all...your life goes on as it has.

But the pill instantly permanently cures you of autism ( and eliminates any "descrimination" that goes with it).

Would you take the pill, or not?

This is an interesting question.
In the context of The Matrix, we are living in a fabricated existence. That seems appealing, except that world is not perfect. As the story goes, when the fabricated world was perfect, people reacted negatively to it, suggesting that some people were incapable of living in a perfect world. The flip side was the real world was imperfect with energy problems.

I would prefer a pill that allowed people to view multiple points of view coupled with understanding, and not get locked into an ideology. This would cover people who were ND and NT. That might be perhaps resolve conflicts within countries and between countries. It would also assist the way people on the spectrum, or other people who are different, were treated. Sometimes we lack perspective. Would it cure all the ills? No, but the world would be more accepting and understanding, and be more problem solving oriented when someone has issues with lighting, noise, smells. Since it is a pill that affects the person neurologically, perhaps it would also smooth out some of those rough edges that make life difficult.

Would I take such a pill? Probably not. I've never trusted the promise that a drug could make life perfect and when offered, I've always turned it down. Don't misunderstand me. I realize that in reality medications can help people.

I got a chuckle at Fnord's yummy post, and naturalplastic's point about there is no need for a pill where nothing changes. Although I'm trying to remember if the pill that did nothing made Neo forget that there was an option? I honestly don't remember.

I feel I've taken the fun out of justanotherpersonsomewhere23124's post. Is somewhere the ZIP code 23124, New Kent, VA?

It's been a while since I've watched The Matrix. I have the DVD. Should I watch the The Matrix DVD, or continue watching Bones on DVD?

If you're speaking of cognitive bias and compassion I agree and wish there was a pill we could hand out

I would always worry that the red pill could be yet another false reality, with the promise of being the baseline reality.

In short, I wouldn't trust Morpheus and would take neither pill.

Me too, that would be extremely awkward explaining that my trout tickling was not sexually motivated. :jester:

Hard to say. The truth doesn't always make us happy, it can really hurt. The fact that there's no heaven, for example. Or finding out you're disabled in an ableist, dog-eat-dog society.

Just make it a pill vs no pill.

Wasn't the Matrix pill thing a one-time offer though? In my experience doctors are only too happy to prescribe pills that the patient has previously rejected.
