Have you ever ran an internet search for someone you knew as a kid (or maybe someone you knew that you had not talked to in a while), only to find out something horrific about them? If so, what did you find?

I have but not often, and not really found much to go by about them. Nothing sinister. Maybe I should do some looking? I did about a month ago look in the habituaries for a WP member as I wasn't sure if she had died (Heard she was in hospital and heard nothing for a while) but fortunately she is ok and recovering and back to her almost usual self, which is why I didn't find any mention of her real name in the habituary.

I have, however, heard of quite a few people who I was in school with and who my brother was in school with who had died. Brother says that out of his class, only a third survived due to drug related deaths and all sorts of other issues. I dare not look! I have lost nearly everyone from school due to prosopragnosia and being a semi natural hermit! :D

Nothing sinister, but he's in a wheelchair now; someone stole the pads from his wheelchair at a home improvement store.

That is awful!

Never forget when I worked on the railway and I heard of the platform staff met this train and took a guy in a wheelchair out to the taxi rank so he could get a taxi. The train carried on and got to its London terminus where another guy asked "Has anyone seen my wheelchair?"

I didn't search for it. Rather, I turned on the news. They were local celebrities. Freak accident. Everyone had been so hyped for them to make it to the big time. Then they just died. It was jarring to say the least. Granted, I didn't really know them. I'd seen them around school. Still, they were such a big part of the community. People made tributes.

Do you mean 'horrific' as in the atrocities they committed, or 'horrific' as in how they died?

Of the bullies who tormented me as a child, 9 out of every 10 are dead, and some of them died horrifically.

While I do not wish death on even the worst of my enemies, I read their obituaries with a great deal of satisfaction.

It's pretty easy to search for someone in that way. They might even have an active social media account.

Googled "Joe Blow" to see what happened to THE Joe Blow I knew in high school, and learned that that Joe Blow had been hacked to pieces by an axe murderer twenty years earlier?

No. Nothing like that.

I googled myself a couple times and couldnt find myself at all, but did find a younger guy with my same first and last name who did a blog ...he was an American guy in Germany who would do a travelogue/Q and A type thing for
other Americans about life in Germany.

I have googled three woman I had crushed on at different times ....and found that each was doing well in their respective professions. Even one that was frankly crazy (but I still  her anyway).

Not via search, but one day, I was looking at the statistics of my town on city-data.com, and one thing that was linked there was the sex offenders. I looked at it out of curiosity and found my mom’s ex-boyfriend on it.
