I love the soundtrack to Katamari Damacy... which has me believe that I should really like jpop.

But there is so much of it, and nearly everything I listen to doesn't appeal to me.

It would take forever to dig through the genre to find stuff that I would like. I need a guide to help me or something...

Some of the popular singers and bands like T.M. Revolution, Nami Tamaki, Attack All Around, etc. would be a good place to start I believe. :)

Just did a quick youtube search of these groups. I don't like any of them... I guess it's too much pop for my tastes. And I don't like all the techno stuff...

Thanks for the help though.

I am extremely particular about the music I listen to... it actually takes a lot of effort to find music I really like. Much I am just sort of indifferent towards.

I like The Pillows. They have a more Western (for lack of a better word) sound, like mid-90s "120 Minutes" alt-rock. The Pixies, The Breeders, Mercury Rev, The Flaming Lips c. Clouds Taste Metallic, etc.

You likey the FLCL?

That was okay... I guess the more rockish sounds I am more accustomed to. Which is also a problem... it sounded too familiar. And in general I am not a fan of that kind of alt-rock.

I don't really watch anime...

The only influence Japanese culture has on me is through video games... which is fully entrenched in my psyche.

Thanks for the recommendation though. My quest to find music that I like is a long difficult road to follow.... :P

Yeah, of course he's awesome. I listen to that music all the time, I have a plugin for my music player that plays .spc files... which are the exact audio programs ripped from snes games.

I don't think he qualifies as J-Pop... and in fact the pop songs he's made for the recent Final Fantasy games are boring to me.

I won't called it techno due to the field may have all the techno like stuff anyway for as a beat or rhythm.

I don't listen to any real J-Pop, but I do listen to Dir en grey and Moi dix Mois...they're darker Japanese bands.

He may or may not but the Otherworld song from FFX was kick ass.
