So, I have my CV set as searchable on job websites. Recently I was contacted by an employer asking me if I wanted to apply to a certain position. I did, so I responded with all the usual stuff.

Anyway, I also keep a record of all my applications. I find that it's useful to check it every once in a while to keep track of how many applications I am waiting to hear back from. Turns out, I had already applied for that exact same position. It had been a couple of weeks (and with the amount of jobs I apply to I had completely forgotten). It was only when I went to write in the new application that I realised.

---

'Hey, we stumbled upon your CV, want to apply?'

Well fun fact you already had my application. Now you have it twice. Whoops.

That's not surprising. Companies tend to collect CVs from applications and contract people later on if the job opens up again. I don't like the practice of letting people apply for jobs that don't exist, but I get it

Does that mean if they employ you that you get twice the pay?

Maybe they'll send two replies. One rejection and one offer of employment.
