It's called the "adult section" for a reason

I'm at the library right now, and about 15 minutes ago, a woman came in with a rather loud small child. Thankfully, they left the room now, but I found it hard to concentrate with the little kid making noise. I always go to the adult section of the library because it's generally quiet, but when a mom brings her little kids into the section, it can get pretty loud. I mean, there's already a children's section of the library, but many adults insist on bringing their little kids to the adult section. I honestly think little kids should stay in the children's section and not be allowed into the adult section until they're old enough to keep quiet.

Do you think little kids should be banned from the adult section of the library?

Yes, but it's hard to enforce because parents won't want to abandon their kids, even briefly.

At the movies theater I've seen guys bring their young daughter's into the men's room!
What other option to they have to keep constant close watch on them?

Libraries are no longer silent sanctuaries. They're modern and hip and contain multitudes of screaming children.
Maybe if they had a soundproof play room the parents could dump them in?
I'll suggest it next time I'm there.

Libraries have an adult section? :? Is it for porn & horror books ? :?

Regardless, libraries are meant to be a quiet place to read/study. Unless there's some sort of children's story time going on where someone is reading aloud to kids and they're reacting, the place should be pretty quiet. Parents need to teach their kids to be quiet there, use whispering voices etc, and if their kids Cannot be quiet they shouldn't bring them there to disturb others.

I have never been to a library with an adult section where children are not allowed to enter. Like golffish21 wrote, a library should be a quiet place. And parents should to the best of their ability try to keep their children quiet there. But I think parents should be allowed to bring their childen to every corner of the library regardless what kind of books are in that section.

I never heard of this before either. If this is in the US I would guess it's for the banned books that talk about things like homosexuality, transgender issues, racism, & atheism.

Or maybe the OP meant it wasn’t in the children’s books section vs there being the existence of an adult section.

I think that kids 12 and under should have a designated play room that they can fool around in.

Libraries are an important public resource, they often have internet access for those who can't access it and a wealth of information for free. Many people who are dealing with poverty (essentially my entire childhood) go there for a combination of free resources and free entertainment. At my local library, we can rent DVDs for free for example.

It might be worthwhile to pull the librarian aside and voice sensory concerns and issues, so they can have a better time enforcing quiet policies, but it'd also be a good way to suggest solutions, like guided play at designated times for kids.

They can find that at a community recreation centre or park. That's not what libraries are for. IMO.
