If you go to your mailbox on Sunday, sorry, but there won't be any mail unless it is leftover from previous days.

It's the same in the UK. In fact they're proposing it is cut to 3 days a week.

Neither does Canada Post. How common is it for mail services to deliver on Sunday?

About 10 years ago, post would come pretty much every single day, most of it delivered by Royal Mail. Now people are lucky if they get mail just twice a week....

I remember them doing this in France when I was there in the early 70s. Quite certain this wasn't done in the US at the time.

In my area USPS also does not deliver regular mail on Saturdays either. Only packages get delivered Saturdays but nothing gets dlivered Sunday. Various things online that are trying to protect/save the post office claim that the post office delivers mail 364 days a year which is everyday I think except Christmas. I'm guessing the only places that have mail delivery on Sundays & holidays are buisnesses & government facilities.

During previous employ with USPS , was occassionally assigned to Special deliveries and Express mail ..Those could be delivered on Sundays at that time . Possible changes due to budget ? But absolutely. no regular mail . :ninja:

I've seen it happen, back in 1989 or 1990, but only once, in a middle-class area. All the "letters" I get these days are junk mail, pension statements, and the occasional idle threat from the city council. But the parcel service kind of works.

Royal Mail isn't what it used to be. What they did to those sub-postmasters shows how low they've stooped.

I remember I had a package delivered on a Sunday once. It was supposed to be delivered earlier during the week but got delayed or lost for a couple days. I guess it finally turned up at local office Saturday evening & got considered a high priority due to circumstances of being late.

Its a weird mentality there, Supervisors go into a panic if bigger stuff gets left behind, Depending on the Grade of Postage . But its great if your into overtime .. :D (From a postal employee Point of veiw.)

The USPS used to deliver 7 days a week and multiple times a day. It was possible in some cities to have a complete back and forth via email in one day.
