Hi, Folks,
Sounds have bothered me since forever. I habitually carry (flesh-colored) earplugs in a little vial. As an ADHD-er, also, I have a bowl where everything dwells that belongs in my pockets when I leave the house. A little pack of earplugs is always there, with the keys and the wallet.
There are very vibrantly-colored earplugs out there (probably for use on construction sites, where people need to know in advance of some event that everyone around them is protected properly.) I get jars of 100 through Ama zoo n. Mack's is the brand name.
It took a lot of practice to make sure I always have them with me, but MAN, they can be a lifesaver in, e.g., a supermarket where toddlers are going crazy, or on a street when a siren goes by.
Hope this helps.
