I recently got into dungeons and dragons, and am looking for a group to try it with. So I decided, if this topic gets enough support, I will start a post-by-play game of Dungeons and Dragons!

I'd love that. Quite a while now we got a starter kit because I wanted to play with my daughter who is very into fantasy. We never got started because I was going to DM but I've never done that and every time we thought about playing I'd get the books out and start reading and they'd be asking me questions and I'd be trying to find the answers in the book and everyone would get bored and wander off! We've yet to actually get started. It's a bit much when no one playing has the first clue what they're doing.

I like the idea of it very much though, so if you started a game on here I'd play.

I liked the first season of that old cartoon show, IDK if there was more than one season but I only found one season to I never played the game though & I have no desire to. I never did any pretend play as a kid.

I've been playing DnD every Wednesday for a couple of years. I'd be interested to see how a forum DnD group would look and play out! ʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっ♡ ֶָ֢ ֗ ₊

I wonder if the person who's thinking about it will change their mind at some point

I've never played but being a huge nerd I've always felt like I should.
My friend recently told me he's in a D&D group and now I'm trying to find a polite way to get invited. So I'd probably play if there was something on here, at least just to get an idea of what it's like.

BabyBird and MoeTrashPanda, since you too seemed the most enthusiastic about it, I've decided to try it first with a short three player game, with me as the Dungeon master. Babybird, since you don't know how to play, I would recommend going to dungeonsanddragons.com to read the full rules, or if their too long for you, Google had plenty of simplified versions of the rules. You can then either use a dungeons and dragons character creator sheet to make your character, or use an online character creator. Once you and moe have both made your characters, go to this link, where I've set up a private forum for us to use. Dungeons and Dragons When you join, there will be your beginning quest already posted, you each can pick one thing to do, and I will narrate what your responses do.

I have never played it, but I like the world. I have read some of those novels about the dark elf Drizzt and I really liked those. And me and my boyfriend were watching a show based on some peoples actual DnD campaign called The Legend of Vox Machina and that is pretty good. I admit I don't like it as much as the Drizzt novels though.

But just seems it would be a lot to play a full DnD game, I figure if I was to participate I'd prefer if there is some kind of shorter version. I do paint some warhammer miniatures because it's my boyfriends hobby but I thought it was really cool so I paint some sometimes as well. But we don't really play warhammer. We tried for a while playing a warhammer game called Necromunda with a group every sunday, but we ended up dropping out because it was a bit too much of a commitment for us. I know Warhammer is very different from DnD but if we had trouble committing to a full Necromunda campaign I figure it would be the same way with DnD.

I suppose it is also ok to appreciate a fantasy/sci fi setting without playing the attached game as well. Like for instance so far I like the T.V series fallout a bit more than actually playing the video game its based on.

Sweetleaf, the game is actually extremely flexible! The game can be as long or as short as the dungeon master wants, and can be surprisingly fun! I've only ever played once, but I must say, its worth spending 30 minutes on!
