Thoughts on the riots in England?

Is there anyone on the ground who has actually seen what's going on with their own eyes? I don't trust the news, really.

The core rioters are anti-Islamicists who were triggered by unsupported claims that a Muslims attacked and killed 3 girls.  The rest are chavs and radgies looking for any excuse to have a row.

Having lived in America during several rounds of widespread rioting generally I have found that once the riots end the toxicity in the body politic and fear remain. Also crime increases as people with bad intent feel emboldened and law enforcement is skittish.

Immigration is a complicated issue worthy of societal debate. What I suspect will happen is anybody publicly arguing to lower immigration rates or discussing problems associated with with migrants will be discounted because of quilt by association with rioting racists.

Chuds are terrorizing Muslims because a Christian from Rwanda murdered some girls. This isn't about the girls being attacked, they're just the excuse.

Tensions are high in most towns, i suspect its similar to the US at the height of the BLM riots, just other way round.

Do you all suspect much will come of any of this, or will it peter out and be forgotten in about a year or two?

The rioters care more about attacking a phantom menace of their own making than about the victims and their families.

Nothing quite says domestic terrorism like domestic terrorism.

A bunch of young Tories who are gullible enough to latch onto whatever conspiracy theory helps them justify their violent hatred for immigrants which Tory leaders actively encourage. A bunch of young Tories who lack the imagination to think outside the box of:
"England special! West special! Immigrants hate us and want to destroy us! Unga bunga smash things! Me free-thinker!"

Hopefully things will calm down a bit now. No problems in my town so far..

Yesterday there were several more far right demonstrations planned in London, but scores of counter-protesters also turned out and any potential violence was largely kept in check.

It's almost restored my faith in humanity - at least for a few days. Even once the aftershocks from the Southport murders die down immigration will remain an issue for right-wingers here though.

It's tragic it really is

I feel sorry for people who have absolutely narrowed their own perspectives down so that they cannot see that the previous government and a right wing minority of people have absolutely mugged them off so that it's them who will end up doing prison sentences for carrying out attacks for the actual racist scumbags who are spreading malicious lies and toxicity

I'm disgusted
