Autism @ Disney (UPDATE)

So I posted about going to Animal Kingdom this spring, and got some helpful feedback. I'd like to share my plans/expectations so if I get anything wrong, please correct me!

What I am bringing (just for the park):
[*] Custom Dinosaur Mickey ears
[*] Metal water bottle
[*] Ear defenders
[*] Tangle fidget (the only fidget toy that really helps)
[*] Dinosaur backpack purse to carry it all in
[*] Non-melty snacks
[*] Lots of spending/food money

What I am expecting/hoping:
[*] As of right now Dinoland USA is still open, but I am preparing myself for if it is closed when we go
[*] I want to see an animatronic malfunction, other than the Na'vi Shaman animatronic.
[*] If it's open I hope to ride the dinosaur ride


we have 2 full days at the park so that's hopefully enough time to enjoy it.

I have never gone to a Disney park, but I have heard that there is a line skipping option for disabled people. Have you looked into this? If possible, I highly recommend doing it. People I know who have gone say those lines can be hours long.

I agree. I have done that at the amusement park which is near me. It makes a huge difference. Some people argue that Autistic people should not be able to use that service but I definitely need it because some of my issues are so severe that standing in line for hours can cause me to have very serious issues. And anyone can buy that privilege. At the park that is near to me, anyone can buy the VIP pass for $50 which gives you the line cutting privilege. It's the same pass for disabled people, the difference is that disabled people get it for free. But I highly recommend it. It made a huge difference for me.

Sort of, you still have to wait, but you can wait somewhere other than in line. But, the Disney Accessibility Service right now is pretty screwed up. You can't even request it until you've paid for the park pass and there's no guarantee that it will be granted. But, it's certainly worth trying if waiting in lines is an issue.

To make the most of your visit, I'd recommend checking the park schedule and planning your day around the shows and attractions you want to see. And don't forget to pack sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.

the only issue is that I am not diagnosed. I am medically recognized and in the process, but I doubt they'll give me one without the professional diagnosis. Plus, I want to stay with my group.

No, I just posted this thread recently. I haven't been to Disney yet. We are going spring 2025.

The only time I went to DisneyWorld was when I was a kid, so I don't have any advice for that. A lot of patience, maybe? Not getting frustrated at lines and such.
