Last January I had a bad chest cold that lasted almost two weeks. It was actually the first time in several years that I had any kind of a respiratory infection. I don't know how or where I caught it exactly. No one else I knew seemed to have the same illness. I guess my isolating myself from the world during covid lowered my resistance. Or I was careless and touched my face with my hands while grocery shopping. I try not to, but it just seems to happen by instinct sometimes. And then I wonder "How many diseases am I going to get now?"

At least it wasn't a stomach virus. I would very much rather be coughing, wheezing and snotting for two weeks then spend even a minute v*miting. :( :( :( :(

When I first started volunteering for the Salvos (Salvation Army) I was asked to sort out the kids toys in the shop. I did - two days later I had the worst sore throat which gradually turned itchy. I developed an annoying cough, annoying to me and everyone else. I had to stay home for two weeks to get better. Thankfully, the cough went away after that time.

When I got the flu I thought I was dying. I had gone to work in the morning feeling fine. By the end of the day someone had to drive me home as I could barely walk. I stayed in bed for the next four days, only getting up for drinks of water and to pee. I had a whole week off work and I was still feeling weak and unwell three weeks later. That flu kicked me in the arse.

One day my boyfriend cooked us a chicken stir fry. You can probably tell where this is heading. The next morning I spent about half an hour on the toilet. There was no vomiting, it was just that everything I ate took a shortcut. I was going to work like that and I refused to eat lunch because I knew what would happen. Two weeks went by and I finally went to the doctor. I was tested and it was found that I had salmonella poisoning. It was probably scared away by the doctor because straight after that I was better.

I got sick once after eating some street food that didn't sit well with me. I was super hungry and thought it would be fine, but I spent the whole night regretting it.
