It is located in Bridgehampton, New York. It will close on October 20.

I remember learning some girls in my high school class would buy K-Mart clothes and sew Ganto's labels on them.

(Ganto's was considered haut couture at the time.)

I still feel nostalgic at times for the old Kmart cafe - way, way in the past.

"My" K-Mart had a Radio Shack store next to it, and a Toys-R-Us across the street. But now . . .

K-Mart closed in Canada back in the late 1990s.
At least we still have Toys R Us.

Online shopping and the covid pandemic are killing businesses. It's yet another new normal we just have to get used to.

I remember when they had full-service restaurants, serving sandwiches and comfort food. When my parents were newlyweds, they would have their date nights there.

I remember when Sears had them too--plus the popcorn counter and Icee Machine.

The last K-Mart in my area closed in 2003, not sure if we have any Sears in the area.

It's very strange hearing about kmart going bust in the United States.
In australia kmart is about as popular as wall mart is to the USA.

Though I believe they are separate entities, only sharing a namesake.

I do wonder though what this means for physical stores. Are we at a time where online shopping has replaced physical stores? Both have their advantages and I want both to continue trading.

I do prefer traditional malls over open air shopping complexes. I struggle to navigate the latter, and the former is just generally nicer, enclosed spaces with protection against bad weather and usually toilets nearby wherever you may be.

Though I think it has to do with rent prices for shops. Maybe open air strip's are cheaper to set up buisness?
