Favorite part of grocery shopping

I am always amazed by the bountifulness of grocery stores/supermarkets. You go in there and they have just about anything you could think of as something you'd like to eat. I suppose shopping is a bit of a chore but the sheer abundance is actually energizing and satisfying to me. For instance, I love yogurt and there are so many styles and flavors to choose from. Same with cheese, and I don't even consider the super fancy cheeses.

I guess it might be less of a chore for me than for most people to go to the store because I order the bulk of my groceries for home delivery and I only go to the store when I'm craving a particular treat.

Do you enjoy grocery shopping? What are your favorite items to buy?

I like grocery shopping, yes. I buy myself way too many treats however, and continue to be overweight.

I'm not sure how I would get by without looking forward to restocking my cupboards and fridge with shopping goodies.

I quite like the little zappertrons you get now so you can scan your shopping on the way and make a quick exit.

Otherwise it's earphones on, head down and get it down as quick as possible. Actually I quite often have it delivered now because I really don't enjoy it

Grocery shopping is frustrating and depressing. Everything is insanely overpriced. And there are just too many choices. And I can't stand in one spot for more than a few seconds to make up my mind before other people get in the way. And they put the bread on one side of the store and the milk and eggs on the other side on purpose because they know those are the three items people go to the store to get the most and they want you to walk through the store to impulse buy things you don't need. You could be buying food that has E. Coli or listeria in it and not know it. I have to estimate out how long the food is going to last through the week and thanks to my dyscalculia I never know how much exactly it's going to cost. And I have to get up earlier, especially this time of year, because only my mom drives me to the store and back and we have to be done before it gets dark because her night vision is poor. Of course, the taxis are horrible. When you call them on the phone they're very rude, and making you wait for a half hour or more while it's raining, freezing and pitch dark outside. Of course they're even worse during the holidays. I have to pay them to take me home, they're not doing me any favors.

But at least it's not as bad as clothes shopping. Just the thought of having to try on the clothes to make sure they fit and see how they look makes my skin crawl.

Grocery shopping I have more problems with than nearly any other kind of shopping.
I like the limited range of ALDI and the way the stores only come in a right and left handed version, as opposed to the random nature of the other big chains.
It always takes me more than twice as long to find anything in those stores and then I'm left with a bewildering array of choices. Thanks for the government mandated unit pricing info.
The other chains also seem much more prone to shrinkflation.

I used to do home delivery from Walmart, but stopped because they ask for a tip for the driver and that adds 10% to my bill. I don't feel like I can decline the tip in good conscience. Sometimes I do pick-up from Walmart, that is my compromise.

I love stocking up on Yogi tea at my local Publix, which has them cheaper than Amazon or Walmart at $3.50/box of 16 bags. I also really like popcorn, frozen fruit and veggies, and frozen dinners by Hormel such as Beef Au Jus, Beef Tips, Chicken Breast, Pork Roast and Turkey Breast.

For me, only Publix is pleasant to shop these days. At Publix, the cashiers are friendly, look you in the eye and say hi, please and thank you, that sort of stuff. They are just super nice. There is never much of a wait either, the lines move quickly and their staff make it their mission in life that check-out is painless for the customers. They also hire mentally challenged baggers, and I support that. The baggers always offer to take your cart out for you, and won't accept a tip. I turn them down unless I have a really big order.

Walmart is unpleasant, because of the organization of the store. Their cashiers are not super friendly either. It is a massive building with bright lights and crowds milling all around.

I don't bother with Kroger's anymore, they never have any cashiers to check out. I have tried their self check out and run into problems every time that cannot be solved. One time the machine told me to wait for assistance. I waited for ten minutes, no one came. No staff was anywhere near the self check out. I then left the store, leaving the groceries behind. I think Kroger's is broken, it is no longer an option for me. I would only go there if I were starving and all other grocery stores were permanently out of business.

^I'm sorry about your terrible experience at Kroger. Kroger is the only grocery store within biking distance of my house (I don't drive) and I have been pretty happy with it. It's spacious and doesn't feel cramped, and now that I'm familiar with it I mostly know where to find everything. (Though they recently moved some things. Grrr...)

I feel exactly the same way.

Looking at the PC Optimum points that I've accumulated when I get home.

I get most of my shopping delivered from Asda. They're pretty reliable. My favourite part is consuming the stuff I've bought.

I loathe shopping. Grocery stores are always full of crazy people who seem to believe no one else is there, there are too many options when I want to just choose one and move on, I usually do self checkout so I don't have to interact with the cashier but to no one's surprise computers can't do anything, and of course they use all their stupid tactics to make you buy more than you intended. Also unless you've been there a million times it's impossible to find anything, as if it's such a crazy idea to have a map of the store so you don't spend hours wandering around looking for one thing. And when I go to the so-called "express lane" for 20 items or less, somehow I always end up behind the person with 20 things while I have 1 thing. But I can't order groceries because that's even worse, then someone else is picking out my things and other people don't know how to do things right.

Saying that though you should have seen the cakes and chocolates and sweets and treats down the middle aisle in Aldi today

I actually go really early in the morning when it first opens and it seems it's a popular time for like-minded people because I know everyone who goes there now but I'd still rather be doing something else

Used to shop late at night ,, then sleep cycle got wonky. So now its mid morning ,if I have any say in when I get groceries

I looked into delivery but wayyy to expensive. If I go later in the evening, its not too bad. During the day hell no, my anxiety can't take it.

One thing I do like is picking out my stuff and comparing prices. Depending on the store, I always have to check out the beer aisle and the clearance area.
