What kind of sudden changes have happened in your life?

how well did you cope with them?

What did you do to successfully cope with them?

What did you do that made it harder to cope with the changes?

How long did it take to get used to the changes?

I got ambush-divorced right before the pandemic, right before my birthday & Christmas. It was my Christmas present in 2019 & I didn't see it coming.

I considered killing myself, but then I thought, well, God is still there for me, even if no one else is. And there was this flowering I saw in my mind, of goodness and hope. I knew then that sometimes drastic change can bring about some good with the bad.

I thought about drinking which is what a lot of people do when their spouse leaves them, but my magic held firm & Demon Alcohol had no way to get in. I went to the grocery store and the entire beer and wine section is invisible, I cannot even see it, it is just like it is not there. At parties, when I am asked whether I want a drink, I feel like they are asking whether I want to drink anti-freeze, of course the answer is no.

Took me about a year to get used to living alone. Then I decided I really liked it as opposed to living someone that was a secret enemy & serial liar.

I live with two cats & and they don't tell me lies.

1. In 1979 I quit the band I was in, left my wife, and moved house.
2. In 1987 I quit my job and moved to another town.
3. In 2013 I retired from my job and started taking long visits to the USA to be with my partner.

1. Quite well on the whole.
2. Mixed success.
3. Fairly well.

I think it was very helpful that they were changes I'd chosen for myself. Can't remember anything specific that I did to help me cope.

Nothing specific springs to mind.

1. It was pretty much immediate. I was lucky enough to find a new district that really suited me.
2. In some ways I never did.
3. I didn't notice a great deal of difference from the UK and the things I've done before, though I don't suppose I'll ever be used to the extreme weather and the dangerous insects.
It's hard for me to feel completely used to anything. If a change is bad, I mitigate it as far as I can, but if I'm not completely successful in that, I don't think I ever quite accept the bad.
