Would it be rude to say "I don't have Asperger's Syndrome, Asperger's has me syndrome?"

I forgot where I learned this saying except it had nothing to do with autism it was something else but it gave me this idea! I came up with it yesterday or the day before. Still, is this funny or degrading or what? I would not use this if this was disrespectful!

It might be contextually rude, but it isn't inherently rude.

I would think it would usually be OK, as long as you were talking about yourself.

Though there will be some (possibly even on WP) who would object to a statement that is medically nonsense.

Even talking about yourself it might be questionable when talking to medical professionals about your mental health.

I use something similar to explain why I decline an offer of chocolate. I say, I like chocolate, but it doesn't like me. I have to then go on to say that since I turned 40 chocolate gives me acid reflux. Most people do not get it without the extra explanation.

I am not sure your phrase would communicate what you want without an additional explanation.

It would be outdated to say.

Asperger's hasn't been a legitimate medical diagnosis for over 10 years now, because research has shown that autism spectrum disorder affects all autists in myriad ways rather than there being one sub-group that is magically special/useful to eugenicists.

I think it is OK.

I also like the word Asperger's because it can be mispronounced in a funny way. It is good to keep a sense of humor about the thing and not take it too seriously.

I honestly don't like the word Asperger's and I don't want to be described as that anymore, just autism will do. Plus I hate that that word sounds like, well you know!

But to each his or her own!

Parts of me are admittedly okay with that saying but other parts of me don't feel right about using it!

I wish I could remember where I got that saying from and I ever remember, I'll post it back here even if this is an old post, if that's alright.

It came from another saying somewhere that may have said "I don't have (whatever/whoever it was') disease (whatever/whoever) has me disease!" Or maybe the word wasn't "disease," maybe it was something else. It's driving me crazy I can't remember where I saw it, I thought it was on a Simpsons episode (Season 1) then again maybe I saw it on another cartoon or maybe I saw it online somewhere like DeviantArt or Fur Affinity! Man I wish I could remember so I can tell you guys! But as soon as I do I will!

It sounds similar to some BS the football player Zlatan said: "I didn't get Covid. It's Covid that got Zlatan!"

People associate using the phrase Asperger Syndrome with the Nazis due to Hans Asperger.
And yet it's acceptable to drink Fanta or drive a Volkswagen.
