It seems Trump suggested USA will take over Gaza, and Israel might accept that. But I'm wondering, if USA takes Gaza, could that lead to war. I mean, if Israel takes Gaza, then any attack on Gaza would be considered an attack on Israel. But if Trump takes Gaza... any attack on Gaza would be an attack on USA.

That might deter future attacks on Israel if nobody wants to incur the wrath of USA. But would all the Middle-East nations sit peacefully with USA establishing Gaza as it's 51st state? Could Trump be on the cusp of starting WW3?

I think Trump's hallucination (not something that could rationally be called an idea) was that other countries would accept all the Palestinians and other arabs who might occupy the area. As I understand it, they don't want the Palestinians in their countries. The Palestinians are apparently thought of as little more than low-class rabble rousers.

There was an interesting account shortly after Obama returned from his first visit to Saudi Arabia and met with the King of Saudi Arabia, the king wanted to discuss their ten or so biggest issues and and all Obama wanted to talk about was the Palestinians. The Palestinians weren't one of the biggest issues and the king was reportedly shocked at how ignorant Obama was of their real concerns. I have no idea if this is true.

Think about it, though. How many of the surrounding countries thought enough of the Palestinians to get touch with Israel?

Does anyone think that those other Arab countries want the Palestinians to move to their country?

While people in the Western World are reluctant to say this lest they are perceived as racist the last thing most countries want is more Palestinians. Why this is is a whole other thread.

The most important factor is the Palestinians don’t want this. They want a Palestinian State from river to sea. They have demonstrated that is something they want by fighting against overwhelming odds and showing a willingness to take consequences beyond comprehension for over a century now. The last few weeks have seen hundreds of thousands of Palestinians return to the north of Gaza knowing it is decimated. Does that sound like people who can be bribed into going somewhere else or who would fear the bad orange man’s army?

If it happens it will be another Vietnam for America. Israel has knowledge from fighting the Palestinians for a century America does not have. Gaza is next door to Israel, America is not. The most unpopular things any Government could do is help America by letting the Americans use bases on their territory as staging areas and allowing American planes to use their air space to drop 2000+ pound bombs on the Palestinians. Call it paranoia and genocidal racism if you will but the Israeli soldier has historical and current motivational reasons to fight. Most American soldiers won’t have those. Despite all the advantages the IDF has Hamas is still very much there.
Why would anyone think the Americans without these advantages can succeed where the Israelis have failed?

The protests will ramp up a lot. We have seen the disruption America assisting Israel has resulted in. In this scenario America will be directly causing Palestinian deaths and Americans from their towns will be coming home disfigured and in body bags.

Antisemitism will ramp up a lot. The antisemitic argument that the Jews nefariously control America will never be harder to argue against.
