Valentine's Day reminds me of mistakes I've made twice.

I dont participate in this at all as it makes no sense to me.

My partner is of the same view.

It's just a "love themed" version of black friday.

Commercial nonsense.

I hate this holiday. It triggers my PTSD caused by bullying done to me decades ago at school. Turning on the tv, every program is about what a "special day" it is. Maybe for everyone else it is great, but it is hell for me.

That's a further reason why I'm glad I don't have access to live television. It's just a brainwashing machine for people trying to sell rubbish. Have you bought your chocolates yet? Have you got your helium balloons? Sent your cards? Booked your restaurant dinner? No, and I'm not going to.

Love isn't something you just dig out on Feb 14th anyway.

I don't hate the entire concept though, I just think it's been way too heavily commercialised and stereotyped. It's ironic, the one thing money isn't supposed to be able to buy, yet they've made it all about buying disposables & consumables with money. To me that drives a coach and horses through the romantic thing it was supposed to be about. I'll do Valentine's Day when I can think of a way of doing it that completely undercuts the mush merchants.
