If a coffee machine has two spigots, one with a red switch and one with a black switch, which one is the decaf?

Methinks the black one...but they should be labled.
Either that, or I'd expect the red one to be hot water and the black one to be coffee.
Often in resturaunts, decaf seems to be represented by the color green.

One place I worked had glass pots with orange handles for decaf and black for regular coffee. There was also one pot that had a gold handle. Nobody knew what that was for. I think it is all arbitrary.

If you really need caffeine (or really need to avoid caffeine), better ask. Otherwise, I would go with black for caffeine.

Not so much fancy-fancy as food-service like a restaurant. It was at a company with about 80 employees. It worked just like a Mr. Coffee, but it had a hook-up to water so we just put the coffee in the basket and pushed a button. There was one thing for brewing and 2 or 3 extra hot plates so that more coffee could be brewed and kept warm and ready.

When I visited the in-laws of my in-laws, they had a really fancy coffee machine that brewed great coffee. Push a button, and it would grind the coffee and brew a very good cup. No idea how much such a machine costs - I didn't bother asking, because I know I won't be buying one anytime soon. My $20 coffee maker does the job. If I want to get fancy, I buy a different roasted coffee, or add cocoa powder or cinnamon.

Exactly. I hope I haven't been drinking this bitter gall for nothing.

I prefer bad coffee. It makes me feel like an ascetic monk when I drink it.

Yep, there's your answer. I would think the red would be regular...they really should label them though.

Your right. The current system is really unfair to people that can't see colors the way everyone else does ("color-blind"). There should be text, shape and texture differences too.
