I just had to make it clear in the title that HIS ART IS MINDBENDING. You are probably familiar with his work even if you don't know it. It appears on Nirvana's "In Utero", String Cheese Incident's "Untying the Not", and Tool's "Lateralus" and "10,000 Days", along with a lot of the art that is shown live in Tool shows. He likes to do a lot of counter-culture type stuff that just blows your mind. In my opinion, there has never been a better artist, and most of you are unfamiliar with his name because he is not dead. Well, that's gotta change... I mean, you being unfamiliar with his name, not him being dead. Here are some samples:

Alex Grey is indeed a visionary genius. My girlfriend pretty much worships him so I've been exposed to a lot of his work and have really grown to appreciate it. We got a DVD called COSM which is a showcase of his Chapel of Sacred Mirrors gallery. In the DVD they zoom up close to the paintings and the detail is just incredible. Pictures on the internet or on the CD covers don't do them justice - the big art books he has out are a bit better at showing the detail though. I'm sure it would be awe-inspiring to actually visit the gallery (in New York). I hope we get to go there someday.

I really think he is one of the truly enlightened beings on the planet today. Listening to him talk about his work on the DVD is fascinating.

Oh definitely - Giger and Beksinski are amazing visionaries. Giger is one of my favorite artists of all time.

im probably in the minority here, but i dont really like his artwork. theres too much going on, i guess im more of an impressionist artist fan

Actually, what you meant to say was "Not him being not dead", not "not him being dead", because he isn't dead, according to you. Pretty simple really.

I like him and HR giger. They are both awesome, but I would not put them up on my walls. They are not very relaxing to look at. Also, you can tell that Alex Grey thinks that using psychedelic drugs is good for you, which I disagree with.

Well, I forgot what I said exactly but what I meant is, he is gonna be a lot more well known once he's dead but I definitely hope he stays alive for a while because I love his work and the more of it the better.

Giger is great. Never heard of, or seen a Beksinski until now. Thank you for introducing me to another great artist. I'm kind of a geek when it comes to art. I appreciate good art a lot.

I like H.R. Giger too, and I agree neither of it is very relaxing, but then I wouldn't look at Artwork to relax myself, I'd look at it to appreciate it.

You don't know that, I mean you can't simply say that just looking at his Artwork, just because it's "Trippy" looking. For example in Japan the bands that play Psychedelic Rock were actually against Drug use, which is directly opposed to the Psychedelic Rock bands in America which used it to make their music.

I know that, I just felt like pointing that out for the sake of pointing that out, too many people make the same mistake you did.

See that imples that he is dead, which of course he isn't, as you've pointed out. This is what you should have said:

"Well, that's gotta change... I mean, you being unfamiliar with his name, not him being not dead." Which would mean what you were intending to say in the first place, it could probably be set out better but it carries the point across properly and that's what counts.
