I wash my face with used coffee grounds and sometimes honey. The caffine is good for firming your skin. The honey (i think) draws out toxins. You can used the stuff on your whole body if you are so inclined...it is kinda messy though.
I also pour my old cold unused coffee on my hair before I take a shower. It darkens it and makes it shiny.

I am also one of those people who drinks a big jar of purified water with a packet of stevia and a few TBspoons of unfiltered apple cider vinegar in it twice a day...(i like the way it tastes and actually crave it sometimes...(the stevia helps) It is supposed to be good for losng weight, and while I am not losing much weight, it does seem to make my skin glow nicely.

There are others that I do, but I want to see if anyone responds to this thread before I list them.

I think that is fascinating about the coffee grounds, and using old coffee in your hair. When next feel like covering the encroaching gray, maybe I'll try that. Please post some more - I like hearing stuff like this!

no, I don't eat soap, but my parents have recently turned me on to oil pulling. This means that every morning I take a tablespoon of sesame oil and swish it between my teeth for as long as I can humanly stand it...and then spit it out...and then brush my teeth...
I only just recently started, so I have not yet noticed any effects...but there are all kindsa testimonials, and while I don't really have any chronic health problems, I figure it can't hurt.
My mom is way into raw foods and natural healing and turned me on to this website...

It is sorta interesting....When you live in a country that doesn't have socialised medicine, you kinda got to be your own doctor.

I guess when I said I had more, I mainly meant the oil pulling. The coffee, the ACV, and the oil pulling are the only things I do regularly..
as far as the coffee goes, I really feel like there is a visible improvement in the texture of my skin.

there are some I kinda know about but don't always do, like you can give yourself a dime store light chemical peel by crushing a few asprin up in water and letting the mixture sit on your face for a while....

As I remember others, I will post them

What does the oil do to your teeth?

It is actually supposed to strenghthen loose teeth and clear up gum disease....

Though some have argued that that might be more an effect of all the brushing that is involved in the routine.

Oil pulling is found both in Aryuvedic and Russian medicine though..

One thing about honey is that it does have an antiseptic effect, so it's good for the face. I make a mask of crushed uncoated asprin and honey at least once a week. Asprin is basically satylitic acid, which is found in most acne treatment products, and it does work, especially when combined with the honey. I even use it as a spot treatment overnight when I have a pimple, and it goes away.

I've heard of using Milk of Magnesia as a facial mask. Supposedly, you put it on your face before bed, and wash it off in the morning. I haven't tried it yet, though.

wow..I have never heard of that one. I wonder how it works.

I always used to try the toothpaste on the acne trick, but it never seemed to work.

Toothpaste IS good, however, if you are stung by a catipillar.

I have got to try the aspirin thingy. I like to make body scrub. I make it with granulated sugar, some honey, olive oil and a little salt. Plus i add a little peppermint oil and lemon oil. as of ratio, i didnt really measure. i just combined it. I used it for the first time on saturday and it made my skin really glow, not to mention moisturized it too. It also has a cooling effect when you rinse it off and when you towel offf. ahhh. I love that type of stuff.

For insect and spider bites--cut a garlic clove in half, and rub the garlic juice into the affected area. It will sting at first, but it is the quickest and most effective treatment ever.

Into this stuff as well here.

Lemon balm or peppermint both make a great toner or body splash. I make a tea from the leaves and keep it in the refrigerator in the summer. Peppermint or Rosemary make great hair rinses also. I grow alot of herbs.

I do the honey mask and sugar scrub also...tea tree oil for blemishes...oil of oregano & goldenseal to help ward off or break up colds.

Thanks for the info on oil-pulling & the link...did your parents notice many benefits from it? I just read the testimonials (ton of them) and I'm thinking of trying it myself...looks interesting.

my mom claims it has really helped her with her arthritis.
Also, she says it gives her tons of energy. She is edging towards 60 but looks better than some women in their 40's thanks partially, I am sure to her obsession with raw foods and natural remedies...

Vick's VapoRub is supposed to be good for fingernail and toenail fungus. I'd try that before I tried that horrible medication that leads to liver problems.
