RP: QuickSILVER
OK, people, new RP, and let's hope that this one gets off to a good start.
This time around, it's an espionage thriller in the mold of James Bond, the Bourne films, and Metal Gear. However, I would ask that you keep things fairly realistic. We don't want this going into Moonraker territory. This is more like The Spy Who Loved Me, with as much cooperation and backstabbing as you like.
So, background, character template, and my character, followed by the rules.
It is a time of a war of shadows. While the Cold War has long since gone, espionage and counterespionage is still rife, and the arms race changes, with the emphasis leading to SIGINT and electronic warfare. Even so, the three main WMD categories still exist, with research still going on supposedly into defence against these in the case of a terrorist strike.
But as one person observed, the line between research for offence and defence is all but non-existent.
And now a new WMD has reared it's head. The old term of 'NBC' now has a new initial to add: 'M'. 'M' for 'micromachine'. (They felt another 'N' for 'nanomachine' was too kitschy )
Around the world, research laboratories relating to nanotechnology, and especially military and medical applications, have been raided and destroyed. Whoever has done so has also stolen researchers and resources required for nanomachine research. The intelligence community is in an uproar.
Then, an encrypted message comes to almost every single intelligence agency.....and terrorist group. It was virtually untraceable, with too many cutouts and proxies. When unencrypted, it reads:
One representative each. Replacements allowed. QuickSILVER your prize. Begin in Cairo, Egypt, Monday, 0900. Those who track me to the designated place may bid for QuickSILVER by auction. Good hunting.

In understandable urgency, the various organisations who were sent the message prepped their agents for a deadly mission.....
OK, character template:
Name: Real name of character.
Codename: Code name or number. I'll allow 00s, but anyone choose '007' and I'll neuter them with a laser.
Organisation: This can be real or fictional, with any intelligence agency. However, only one person per agency (like, only one from MI6, from the KGB, CIA, etc). If you can't think of one, make one up! Be sure to note whether said organisation is a spy group, a mercenary group, or a terrorist organisation. But nothing like al Qaeda. I think we can exclude Islamic terrorist groups for players.
Appearance: A general appearance, and vital stats like age.
History: Family, history within the military or the group they're involved with. Include any skills here. But be reasonable.
Preferred Weapon: A handgun or easily concealed weapon. Include any hand-to-hand combat skills here.
Gadget: One or two items. Nothing overly encompassing. A souped-up PDA and a grapple gun are good, but I want to see people using their wits, not machinery. No cars!
Okay, now using my template... (Note that if I did it about what the various intelligence communities knew, it'd be almost completely blank. I'll reveal more as the RP progresses, if it does)
Name: Unknown
Codename: Argentum
Organisation: HERMES, named after the Greek god of speed, messages and theft. Hermes is called in Rome 'Mercury'. A virtually unknown organisation, it has nonetheless has sold information anonymously to both intelligence communities and terrorist organisations.
Appearance: Caucasian. Darkish hair, green eyes, rather average in appearance. Has noticeable tics that distort his face when angry or sadistic.
History: None known, yet. However, Argentum has significant scientific and military knowledge, and he knows how the various organisations he has to deal with work.
Preferred Weapon: He prefers to conceal traps. However, if need be, he uses a tranquiliser pistol to subdue ornery prisoners that he feels he has need of later. He will use a CZ75 if he feels they are of no use. Uses syringes full of poisons in close quarters, and has been known to use CQC, aka 'defendu'.
Gadget: Considering he is at a secret base (where else?), he has a variety of technology tat his disposal, not to mention various henchmen. His biggest drawcard is the QuickSILVER, a highly advanced nanomachine preparation.
RULES:
Only one player per organisation.
Your character can (and may) die. If that is the case, you may create a new character from the same organisation or a new one. However, they will be left at a disadvantage unless I (or rather, Argentum) takes pity on them and gives them a hint to allow them to catch up, or even pass the other players.
Teaming up is allowed. Player killing by another player is frowned upon, unless it is by one of my henchmen. Should one character be killed by another, and I feel inclined, I will give the replacement character an advantage over the others.
Keep it as real as possible. If things get too ridiculous, I'll use my henchmen to restore order.
I am effectively a Game Master, and so I will move a story along as I see fit. It doesn't mean this RP won't end, or I cannot die. But I want excitement, people.
Okay, I'll start the RP after you dole up about half-a-dozen characters.

Organization: United States Department For The Investigation of Extraterrestrial Activity AKA Majestic 12
They are focused on investigating allegations of extraterrestrial activity and acquiring alien technology for study and use by the US government. Investigating this due to the advanced nature of the nanotech and the technological advances HERMES has made.
Appearance: 5'10" at 130 pounds, red hair and dark green right eye, left eye is ice blue, pale with a scar on her right cheek from a gunshot. Burn marks over right shoulder and upper arm. Acid burns on left leg and gunshot wounds in right leg. Has "IPSA SCIENTIA POTESTAS EST" tattoed on her left arm. Left handed. Age 35
History: She has been an MJ-12 agent for over a decade. Served in a variety of top secret missions. Holds record for most HALO jumps by a US agent and second in number on Earth.
First three years were spent as security agent for Area 52, dealt mostly with dangerous materials and occasional security breach. Shot three escaping scientists and two defecting guards in "Karanin Situation"
After Karanin Situation was transfered to field work. Missions in Brazil, North Dakota, Siberia, China, North Korea and Syria. Acquired 35 hostile kills, including five VIPs and one possible non-human sentient lifeform (Deras Incident)
Removed from field work and transfered to R & D division. Used in a number of experiments with biomedical technology and exposed to R-grade nanites. Nearly killed in explosion of sliver fulminate and chemical KL - 5.
After recovery requested mission to capture quickSLIVER. Granted by 7 - 5 majority vote of MJ-12 council.
Preferred Weapon: XSJ - 12 machine pistol, clip is 35 rounds large with three shot burst and semi auto mode. Can fire .22 Hollow Points or 22. Armor Piercing Rounds. Also an M15 pistol modified to fire tranquilizer rounds.
Gadget: Ocular Implant in left eye allows thermal vision/night vision by blinking in patterns to switch on and off or between modes.

Organisation: Dibble's Top Secret Agency........in other words, a detective agency that never got off the ground
Appearance: Dibble is 5'6 with short bushy blonde hair, lean figure, freckles, small nose, blue eyes, is 20 years old, big feet,
History: Dibble is currently in the middle of her parents rather messy divorce. Her boyfriend KJ has gone missing, and her stupid agency didn't go as planned. However, she has accidentally hacked into government files (oops) and is now looking for her boyfriend as well as doing anything that she finds on the government site.........which isn't much. She is skilled in plenty of martial arts, has a computer engineering degree, and heightened senses. She was also born and raised on an Army Base in Australia, so she knows what it's like to be in the army. Was in training to be a sniper until the news of the divorce filtered through the ranks.
Preferred Weapon: her pocket knife and her revolver, which she can fire in almost pitch-black with 60% accuracy.
Gadget: She carries a handbag of odds and ends, including her out-of-date mobile phone, a screwdriver, some old keys, a mirror, some chopsticks, a piece of metal, some scraps of string and some spare ammo for the gun.
Yes, my character is a loser. A lot like me.

If Dibble accidently hacked a top secret government network, what's to stop her from stumbling across something like this? Want me to up her IQ a little then?
