Which of you are going to attend band camp this summer? I'm going to start mine in late August; it's going to have to last a week because the football league decided to schedule our first game of the season before our school starts. It's obviously for marching band and pep band (since our band has to do all the band stuff like pep band, concert band, and marching band).

This one time at band camp....sorry I just couldn't resist

I remember band camp as a fun time...I played the Tuba so it was a little much to carry it around in the 90 degree heat, but the band people were pretty much the only people who were nice to me when I was in High School

Yeah, I think that band is awesome. I like music, and I play the tenor trombone; the slide could be tedious at times because I sometimes bonk it into people when they get too close. I don't get why people make fun of the band, since we do add spice to almost all the basketball and football games. If we weren't there, the football and basketball games would probably have pretty lousy timeouts and half-time shows (depending, of course, which school you are from, if the school even does half-time shows). Anyways, the band is one of the only crowds that I'm accepted in, and almost all of them are nice.

*waves hand* I'm going to band camp! I waited forever and it's finally starting tonight.

Then I go Monday thru Friday all day. 7AM to 8:30 PM. We get lunch and dinner breaks but I can't drive so I guess I'll pack a lunch & dinner. I, being the band geek I am, am really excited. At my school we march 2 shows. Upperclassmen (soph thru sr) show is Cirque de Soleil: QUIDAM. and the underclassmen show is The Music of Aaron Copland. it'll be interesting (I'm only a soph) last year our underclassmen show was Ray Charles.

The band population at my school is pretty big. all together we have a few hundred. but they are all really nice (er, they were last year) and very accepting of a weirdo like me. I still have to meet these incoming freshmen and get over the fact that they are all strangers.

-Trumpet.
